April Fool's

Any pranks to report, as victim or perpetrator? Any favorites from the annals of your personal history? My faves are, of course, geeky. Like sneaking onto a friend's computer and setting their "autospell" feature to change common words like "the" and "company" into... more embarassing words.

Perhaps fittingly, today is also the eighth anniversary of the day my wife and I became a couple — yes, the very day the joke's on everyone.

P.S. Happy Anniversary, sweetheart.

Well, evidently Metafilter has been taken over (http://www.met4filter.org), and Google is actually run by a cluster of pigeons (http://www.google.com/technology/pigeonrank.html). Also, the truth can be revealed about Dreama's so-called vacation (http://www.bluesilver.org/weblog/entries/00000396.php). I love April Fool's, but I'm usually too lazy to do anything clever with my sites, although I am planning to call my mom and tell her I'm moving back home to Hawai´i.

I remember pulling the "everything from top of desk to floor, everything from floor to desk" routine, as well as changing desk drawers between people's desks. Juvenile, I know; my only excuse is that it was the Controller of the company who came up with the idea, and exhorted the few of us left in the office at 1730 to join in.

Anyone listen to the Rory Wild and the Wake Up Crew on I-94? They had this guy call his mom up and while talking to her pretend that a car was going to crash into him (sound effects provided by I-94). The guys mom was screaming on the phone. When he told her it was a prank to win dinner from the radio station, his mom started swearing at him in filipino.

Although it was a mean joke, I couldn't help but laugh. That was so mean!

That was sooo mean! I bet she did more than just swear at him . . . hope he won that dinner cause I bet she wasn't going to cook him anything yummy for a while!

Happy late anniversary, Ryan and Jen! I think April Fool's is way more fun and original than the tax convenient New Year's Eve. Bonus--it's easy to remember and if you ever do forget, you can always say, "April Fool!" and smooth things over.
