Finally Bought A Digital Camera

After spending years lugging my 11 year old Canon Elan SLR camera around the world and taking thousands of pictures, I finally, on an impulse, bought a digital camera that'll allow me to take snapshots for my weblog.

Wanna see what I had for lunch?

Ohhhh, I'm so envious of you! I want a digital camera. I had one, but my silly b/f left the passenger seat unlocked and the person stole it without any difficulty. I'll get another one eventually. :)

Sorry to hear about your camera, but the upside is you can make your b/f buy you a better camera.

The Toshiba PDR-M71 camera that I picked up is pretty good for the price. It's a 3.2 MegaPixel camera that is also capable of filming movie clips with audio. The same clips can be played back on the camera itself (it has a tiny built in speaker and mic) or on a television or any device with a built in A/V jack like a VCR.

When the images and clips are downloaded onto a computer via an USB cable, the clips themselves are stored as QuickTime movies. Pretty cool for about $350.

Love the specs on your camera (for $350! drool) - and the resolution on those pictures is just beautiful. But, man, where did you have lunch? That plate of seared `ahi was just calling my name (more drool...) - just goes to show how good it is, yah? ;)

I had a meeting to attend at the Hale Koa Hotel. Lunch was free, and so was dinner, but I couldn't stay for that. What a shame.

The soup was "Lanai Pineapple Gazpacho", served cold. The salad entree was "Seared Ahi with Mesclun Salad Greens and Raspberry Vinaigrette". And rounding off the meal, a serving of "Tropical Cheesecake".

Sheesh! Who hosts these meetings? I used to eat at DPMA (Data Processing Mgmt Ass'n) lunches at the Sheraton Waikiki...rubber chicken deluxe!

$350??? Where? Oh, wait; it probably needs the latest Window$ and a USB cable, right? Never mind...:(

Mmmmmm, seared ahi with mesclun salad and raspberry vinaigrette...

The Hale Koa is one fancy place, indeedy - the last time I was there, it was my sister's wedding reception (10 years ago) and needless to say, it's not a bad place to be. :D (Though I must admit that I wasn't too impressed with the food back then... judging by said evidence, they must've gotten a much better chef)

During the last few times I was there within the past year, their menu selection was on par with what you would expect from many of the restaurants here serving up the de facto Pacific-Rim cuisines made famous by the likes of Roy, Sam, Alan, and Russell.

I suspect these famous chefs also influenced many of the young chefs now working in the likes of Hale Koa and other hotel kitchens, which also explains why over the past couple of years, there have been a sudden proliferation of gourmet plate lunches found at such holes in the wall places like Monarch Seafood in Kalihi or Good To Go in Kailua.
