Quilting, anyone?

I'd like to invite anyone and everyone to join me at the `Iolani Palace grounds, Old Archives building, tomorrow at 9:15am for Hawaiian Quilting class with the Serrao family. I've been participating for over a year now, and I really enjoy it. Talking story while sewing is very relaxing.

I only wish there were more people my age- heck, under 40, even! I love listening to the "old-timer" stories, though. And I'm really hoping that one of these days someone will start teaching me Japanese. That would make Saturday mornings really productive.

Guys, don't be afraid- you too can come! We actually do have some men in the class, and they seem to be among the best quilters.

Don't worry if you can't sew- you'll learn. It's not that difficult.

Classes run from around 9:30 to noon most Saturdays and cost $5. Parking is free on the Palace grounds (don't worry about the meters)- just stay out of the restricted spaces.

Glad to see another "arts-n-craftser" here! I'll try to drop by at the Archives building today - I've got a full plate this week (so to speak) with Taste of Honolulu and babysitting my sister's kids, but I'll be able to join you next week or so. I haven't sewn in a while, either (I used to do embroidery and cross stitching) so I might bring my needles, too.

I recently took up crochet again after 10 years and enjoy it immensely. Plus there's also knitting, which is now seeing a revival as a "hot" new hobby. Hmmm... :)
