In case anyone has any interest in a brief history of the rise and fall of the Islanders AAA baseball team, I've put together a few pages about it. I got curious one day, and discovered there was virtually nothing about the team (20+ years, after all) on the web, so...it's over at my place. Select the "other projects" button.

Hey, I recall going to one of their games when I was knee high to a grasshopper. A foul ball hit my cousin in the head and then bounced over and hit Bunny. I was bummed I didn't get to catch it! :(

Oh, the Islanders weren't major league? I just recently learned (try on Sunday as we passed Cal Ripkin baseball stadium) that minor league teams are all affiliated with major league teams. And that there are more than one. Until last year, I didn't know minor league existed. And to think, I actually saw the Islanders more than once (not by choice, obviously). Can you tell I didn't/don't pay any attention to sports?

As I remember it, the ball was coming for me so I put up my hand to deflect it, whereupon it hit our cousin on the head and bounced higher. But I could be mistaken, I just remember it coming at us so fast (and I hate any kind of ball bouncing at me).

Yes Bunny, they're called farm clubs or farm system or whatever..

God I scare myself that I have this knowledge!

Once I start rattling off ERA's and RBI's, I think I'll shoot myself. :)

I only know the terms RBI and ERA because they come up often in crossword puzzles, like Asta. :)
