Narc

Saw Narc today at Ward with Albert.

It was his idea to go see it, I knew that the movie existed through the TV ads but I had no idea on the plot of the movie. My first impression of the movie was that it was about a couple of cops in the vice squad and I just felt sort of neutral in going to this movie.

I was totally wrong on this movie. Once the movie starting going down the path of being a typical police murder mystery than this movie gets to be interesting. Granted one has to go through about 5 to 10 minutes of bad filming style which includes is a foot chase scene using hand held movie camera at the begining and somewhere in the early middle of the movie the screen breaks into four sections about the cops questioning people which then leads to somebody else apartment.

Granted this movie had a lot of violence, but it was an okay movie to watch if you are into whodunits.

Yes, some of the gimmicky camera work was too cutesy not to be annoying just as some of the more extended cop-wife-baby scenes were a yawn.

And there was no shortage of "gratuitous" violence, especially the slow-motion shot of blood spurting from the gunshot wound. (Little wonder the film got an R rating, never mind the drugs and language.)

But I see so few movies of this type that I did enjoy it overall.
