While I have read Superman comics and seen it on other media (movies, TV and books) in the past I never bothered to watch Smallville. I did however watch tonight's epsiode.

I am kind of wondering about the stone tablets in the cave how did manage to get there and how long it was there?

Um. What was the secret?

I knew Reeve was appearing on the show as an astronomer who finds Krypton... but what pivotal twist in the plot he unveils I have no idea.

That Krypton is closer to Earth then other forms of the Superman legend.

The comics had it roughly 30 light years away, the 1979 movie had it in a different galaxy (okay never mind the fact that a piece of Krypton managed to get to Earth in a short time). I don't know if the "Lois and Clark" series touched on the distance or not.

On the Feb 25th showing of "Smallville", the number 13 sticks into my mind. Christopher Reeve's character (I think his last name was Swan or Swane) says that he received radio signals from another star system 13 years ago. I am assuming Clark Kent in this series is around 17 years old?

If so and assuming both Krypton and Swan were using standard radio frequencies that would mean the location of Krypton is at 4 light years away which would mean the Alpha Centuari star system.

Relativistic Effects could make it still further if much of the trip was at near C.

I think the point of Dr. Swann was to explain to Clark that he is the last Kryptonian. It's nothing new for those of us who are familiar with Superman lore, but it's fairly important for one to realize that Clark will be the only Superman, even if there are those pesky criminals in "the negative zone" or those other kryptonians that have taken temporary residency on space ships and such.
