They're Heeeere!

That's right! It's Peeps time again! I spotted them last night at Safeway in Manoa. I personally prefer chicks to bunnies, and cut right to the chase, biting the head off right away. How about you? Bunnies or Chicks?

I have to admit I was kind of shocked to see so many shapes and seasonal Peeps on the Peeps website. Actually, now that I think about it, I'm kind of shocked that I actually went to the Peeps website. But after watching the news about cop shootings on Oahu and driving by war protesters on the way home from work, I guess I was surfing to forget.

Things have been extrememly chaotic in my life and obviously in the world at large, which makes me even happier that people like THIS exist in the world. I just want to say "Thanks!" to the person who designed the Patriotic Peeps Hat. Weird marshmallowy wonder to remind us all of the important things in life. Fluff, fun, and flags!

So, which is it? Bunnies or chicks?

Oh, by the way, I'm Beth. Nice to meet you!

Ah, Peeps. I have no interest in them as a food, but thanks to the Internet, I have a great appreciation for them as test subjects (or, depending on your perspective, victims).

There's the San Diego television station that enlisted the fire department, a local construction company, and a firing range.

There's the Peep research site, evaluating general peep science and peep health (such as the effects of smoking and drinking).

Even in death, they've been the subject of extensive autopsies.

The bunnies haven't been spared the probing curiosity of science. Meanwhile, the battle between bunnies and chicks has escalated quite a bit.

And of course, Peeps sympathisers are fighting back.

Nice to meet you too, Beth!

Neither chicks nor bunnies for me ... 'tis the season of Cadbury's Cream Eggs!

Hi, Beth. Regarding the decapitation technique, it reminds me of the old B. Kliban cartoon of the cat singing the song about little mousies; the operative phrase (nod to the recently-deceased Ron Ziegler) was "Bite they little heads off, nibble on they tiny feet."

Albert, you stole the words right out of my mouth.

If only they made white chocolate and dark chocolate versions..

It's reminds me of that disturbing cracker jingle that goes, "Goldfish, the snack that smiles back, until you bite their heads off."

I was debating whether or not to buy some Peeps when I saw them at Kmart about two weeks ago. I decided not to, because they taste, well, just like sugar and food coloring. Plus they get everything sticky.

But I do enjoy the experiments!

Uh, I don't know about you guys, but Peeps Dance is now officially my favorite thing.

It never ceases to amaze me how the Pagan spring celebration of fertility--symbolized by the rabbits and eggs--got tied into easter.

I've put my guilt into a box and sent it to the Pope with love.

So now, as a recovering Catholic, instead of chicks and bunnies, I am going to opt for the pleasure of a shrimp cocktail and a naranja maňana out on the lanai.
