Hau‘oli Lā Ho‘omaika‘i

What's on your mind on this day of everything from deep reflection to shallow pie tins? What are you most thankful for this year? What's on your plate? And perhaps most importantly... do you get Friday off too?

Deep thoughts, indeed: WHY won't my jello mold set if I use fresh pineapple or kiwi? What can I mix into my Stovetop stuffing to fool people into thinking it's homemade? Where can I get one of those accordion-style paper turkeys to sit on my table?

Friday -- yes and thank God.

Happy thankgiving!

kreeeeesty,

Pineapple juice contains an enzyme that keeps gelatin from gelling. I've been digging around and have seen recipes that state that canned pineapple is processed enough to allow the jello to set; you might want to try that.

As for the stuffing, use an equal amount of chicken broth instead of water. Ryan's stepmom puts cut up portuguese sausage in hers and I swore it was homemade. I didn't know the truth until recently.

Good luck!

Oooh...jello molds - does anyone have a good and/or easy recipe for Broken Glass?

Some of my coworkers make a cornbread stuffing with the Portuguese Sausage in it - a yummy idea but a little too edgy for my family.

Friday - nope, I gotta clock in at 6 o'clock AM. Good excuse for an extra small/small extra serving of turkey and stuffing 'cause I'll need the tryptophan to HELP me get to bed early...

Currently on Kauai visiting the folks. I took vacation such that I am trying to avoid the crowds at the airport (left on Monday, returnning on Friday).

As far as the plans for Thursday are concerned it's visiting other family members.

Since we knew ahead of time that hubby wouldn't be here for Thanksgiving, we celebrated it last month, before they deployed.

The commissary here finally brought in Redondo's Portugese sausage, now I'm trying to get them to bring in POI. I'll need to try that stovetop recipe one day.

I'm thankful that he's returning next week ... -S-

Now is the time for us to be thankful that we are alive and all of our loved ones are well and okay.

Happy Thanksgiving.

I got Friday off at one job, but I signed up for a shift at the other. There's no such thing as holiday pay at either job, so I don't get paid if I don't work. I'm doing my part to keep the unemployment rate down.

I'm thankful, alright, but...

I'd be more thankful if my freakin' ISP was more reliable. I've had Prodigy for 4-5 years, but it got bought by SBC, and then SBC did a deal with Yahoo, forcing me to use a junk Yahoo browser with an equally junk connection. They have one (one!) line to their servers on Oahu, and it fails repeatedly. Who's got a suggestion for an ISP at $24/month or so?

Happy Thanksgiving, all!

I had this whole week off... and am very grateful for that.
But most of all..... I am blessed and grateful for my Love and my family.
