Crazy World

An political observer has jokingly remarked that a ham sandwich should be able to beat Bush after the mess he has made in Iraq, tax cuts to the rich, the loss of jobs in the U.S. and the record federal budget deficit. But Bush may take the electoral votes of heavily-Democratic Hawaii and is a percentage point or two ahead in the overall presidential race.

Welcome to Crazy World. The lunatics seem to be in control of the insane asylum.

There is no kind of nutshell found anywhere in the world worthy of encapsulating this loco election. Suffice it to say that Repubs just vote Republican no matter what. The lack of WMD in Iraq and a current deficit which in itself represents a $700 billion swing from a $200 billion surplus when Bush took office, would be enough for any sane citizen to vote responsibly against Bush. But this is not the case. Simply because the foregoings are moral issues. Repubs are not concerned with such intangibles as moral issues when they are too tormented with more concrete matters like preserving their property holdings and securing tax cuts.

Even though understandably personal agendas are involved in the Repubs' blind adherence to party solidarity...with an overwhelming preponderance of valid reasons why Bush should not be returned to office right in front of their own eyes...glaringly more than could be humanly ignored or be ignored by normal human beings...obviously calling for the Repubs to make an exception in this case and break from partisan loyaty...giving Bush a pass...despite the sum of all kukai can not but impeach what Repubs perceive as the unimpeachable...their own asses. Did I stumble into the boundaries of moral issues again which as noted are considered inconsequential by some standards? Unfortunately for our nation, what the moral of the story should poetically be, does not always coincide, with whom the eventual winner turns out to be in a presidential election race. Thus, it is not always beneficial to tow the idealistic line in preference instead to be stubornly partisan unless you enjoy cringing.

The situation we are witnessing today in the presidential race is also a large part a fault that is inherent in the Dem's mentality. While Repubs don't look for a messiah as their Presidential candidate, Dems want a cape crusader, while Repubs would be just as happy with a gargoyle for their candidate. Repubs do not prioritize the credentials of their man over the office of the President itself. Repubs instead look on the office of President simply as a label on a political bottle. If Kerry was running as the Repub's candidate, 99% of the Repubs would vote Kerry based on party affiliation alone. And Kerry would not have to put up with all the heresy that the indecisive Dem coin-tossers have put him through in regards to him being el imperfecto candidate.

It is just second-nature that a Repub will mail in a check for $1000 to buy hay to feed the Elephant. More importantly, a Repub will have the spare $1000 to send in to make a contribution. In contrast, a Dem would not part with the amount that it costs to buy a six pack of beer unless they are, in the running, for a federal appointment even though they had just won a lottery the day before. Call it a tradition. Also call the act of sending in a campaign contribution passing the point of no return to vote for the recipient, which represents a much more dependable commitment, than vocally citing Bush's disastrous first term record to bolster an intention to vote against Bush, and as a consequence maybe for Kerry.

Should Bush pull off a victory tonight, the win compounded with the public distaste from the previous presidential win, is bound to backlash on the Repubs in the 2008 Presidential race. Dems will retaliate with an equal strategy of polemic blindness.
