will the Wave ever really be "gone"?

the first mention i ever heard of the wave was from a college-aged ex-roommate that would suddenly burst in with a crew of clubbers at 3am and exclaim "HEY! Let's all go to the Wave!"

i never had any desire to go with them for some reason and it wasn't until a few months later when i met maleko that i saw the light. i really can't explain what it was but i CAN say that there is a very distinct difference between the Wave at 11pm and at 3am. it was like this colorful wonderland of scenesters, industry big-wigs, strippers, visiting celebs and bands, and pretty much anyone left over. crazy and soooo fun. i was addicted.

anyway, here are some of my favorite shots from my nights at the wave to help celebrate their 25th anniversary. i will post some pics from the anniversary party at hulas soon on the nightlife diaries

and NOW! for some of MY personal favs:

mardi gras much?

these are from when we did the commercial shoot. of which i have never even seen-- they originally put it together to show on the hotel tv network but something fell through. oh well. it was a super fun day with some of the funnest people i've ever known!

and who doesn't love new year...

there's so many more. TOO many. such a fantastic spot and i really hope jack decides to find another venue. it's already been demonstrated that's it's possible after a FREAKISHLY fun anniversary party at hula's last night.

so.... have YOU ever seen "the light"?

where does one begin when you describe experiencing the wave?!?!

That's why I don't know where to begin. It was sure fun there. Anyone who went more than once knows. I hope to see it pop up somewhere else. Perhaps in the new building?

I was back on Oahu this summer and it just seemed lacking without the Wave to go to after the other clubs got out at 2 a.m. What do people do until 4 now? I went to the Living Room and it just wasn't the same vibe.

it's pretty much spit up between big kahunas in waikiki, the doghouse, the living room, and our individual cribs. lame. but ..... MAN i miss that vibe too. the assortment of all walks of life.... all represented there!

i hear they are mos def going to open another one. at least that was the rumor floating around the anniversary party at hulas a few weeks back.

sigh...this makes me really sad...as for those rumors, way off...for now...nothing in the works...yet =)

My whole lifestyle has changed since the Wave closed. I used to stay out until sunrise (The reason I started wearing shades at night). Now, I go home at 1:45. It's so sad.

Oh damn I know, it's not even worth staying out after 2 anymore. Flash, why can't you just take over Rumor's Nightclub and remake that place into something worth going to. It's already got a 4 a.m. liquor license, it's centrally located, huge, and there's plenty of parking.
