Vista has expanded the Times New Roman character set so that it can support Hawaiian typography. It’s now finally possible to correctly type a Hawaiian word like “Kāneʻohe” in the default font of the default word processor. No more excuses!

Oh good because that will help me pronounce things correctly. Hubs is always at me for not getting the vowels right.

Here’s another good tool to help you with Hawaiian words. Ulukau is an online Hawaiian dictionary that lets you type in an unaccented Hawaiian word, like Kaneohe, and it’ll give you the correctly accented version, Kāneʻohe. Just make sure that you have it set to “other characters” rather than to “precise spelling”.
