The text below is the second half of Chapter 37 (with some additional text to make it interesting) and parts of it is in my entry to the NaNoWriMo web site. It is repeated here so that one would have a feel to what the novel is about. If after you have read this section (that is only 5 pages long) only and are totally confused by it then my job is done.
While the novel itself is not done, it is past the 50,000 word mark that NaNoWriMo considers as a valid winner (just in terms in the number of words) but it will answer some questions as to why the events in the excerpt happened.
If the Dillingham on this trip traveled through time by accident, it did not explain the things that were going around her. Zonar and his lackeys were strange to being with but who isn’t when visiting or in his case conquering Earth. No the strange things were coming from the various Earth people Karen had encountered since she got back.
This just in
It was the television Karen turned her attention to it, it showed a man doing the news.
on the life of the supreme leader of Earth had just taking place, we take you live to Punchbowl Street where our reporter Mili Valanova is live and in person, Mili want can you tell us what just transpired
The television then showed a woman dressed in a red blazer, white blouse and a red skirt, who then said:
Pure unadulterated pandemonium and massed confusion everywhere and around me at an unprecedented level I have never seen or experienced before in all my time as a journalist here at this station.
Karen also noticed that woman’s red blazer was off-centered and had dirt stains on it, the blouse had a button or two lose, her hair was in a mess and she limped on her left leg, she held a microphone in one hand and it seemed that she had a red shoe in the other hand, just passing behind of her was a couple of police officers dragging what seemed to be Tobaz, who held up both arms and flashing the bird on each hand and yelling “Peace to the west!”. The woman reporter then turned and flinged her shoe at Tobaz, hitting him on the mid section of his body.
How insolent!
The television showed the anchor man, his name of Balu Halstrom was on the bottom of the screen Balu then said:
Mili has any government official commented on today’s event?
The view went back to the woman reporter who then said:
Well Bali, we have this comment that was recorded earlier just minutes before it happened from a United Nations Space Fleet spokeswoman identified only as Junior Grade Lisilva
The view changed to a neatly dressed Mili and she was holding a microphone to Lisa who then said:
Well for the time being it is no comment and let me get closer to those guys over there
Lisa was pointing a finger off to the distance and the camera panned to show the figures of Zonar, Cor, Hor, Tobaz, Taskeven, Jackie and Edna. Jackie smiled and waved at the camera.
The view went back to the news anchorman, it still showed the caption of Balu Halstrom below his body and then he said:
Mili by any chance is this a conspiracy between the United Nations Space Fleet and the hordes of alien ceiling crawlers that was broadcast last week
The view went back to Mili the woman reporter who then said
It would appear so Bali, as you can see here
The television showed the image that the Dillingham got from Outer Marker D9 that was inside Zonar’s flagship, which displayed seven beings walking on the ceiling of the starship going to one of the external cameras on the outer marker.
from these images shot last week from an outer marker close to Saturn you can see how fearlessly these alien ceiling crawlers approaching the Outer Marker and they later destroyed it for no reason at all!
Oh god, Karen through how wrong this reporter was about the situation on Zonar’s flagship concerning Outer Marker D9.
The television viewed changed back to the news anchorman with the caption of Balu Halstrom below his face and he then said.
Mili if these are the feared alien ceiling crawlers then how come they were shown on the ground right side up like us regular Earth folks?
View changed to Mili the woman reporter who said
Bali we and they were on the outside, there was no ceiling available for them to crawl on and this may be why they made attempt on the life of the Supreme Leader of the planet today just seconds after he was sworn by in Superior Court Judge Ann E. Caine of the One Hundredth Twenty Seventh Circuit Court of the United States with a special jurisdiction over the Twenty Second Appeals Supreme Court of the State of Hawaii
The view of the television went back to Balu the anchorman who then said:
And the judge works for?
The view of the television went back to Mili the woman reporter who then said:

Oh god Karen thought did the Dillingham’s warp capacitor actually malfunctioned and they ended up in an alternate reality where everything on Earth was screwed up. The possibility of this boggled her mind over this situation.
The view of the television went back to Balu the anchorman who said:
Mili are there any other new developments in this on going situation?
The view of the television went back to Mili the woman reporter who replied
No Bali, the police have
The view went back to Balu the anchorman who said:
Excuse me Mili
The view went back to Mili the woman reporter who said
Yes Bali
The view went back to Balu the anchorman who said
This week I am Balu; next week I will become Bali
The view went back to Mili the woman reporter who said

Not a problem Mili, say if you do find that judge ask her if she has any extra of those name change forms, I misplaced mines
The view changed back to Mili the woman reporter who said
Will do, say since you are still Balu and since my formal gown is at the cleaners after last’s night Po'okela banquet can I borrow one of yours?
The view changed back to Balu the anchorman who said
What for?
The view changed back to Mili the woman reporter who said
For tonight’s reception at the Pagoda Hotel to honor the new Supreme Leader of the planet
The view changed back to Balu the anchorman who said
Why not wear that red satin holokuu that you wore just this past May Day
The view changed back to Mili the woman reporter who said
It was a rental
The view went back to Balu the anchorman who said
I think I might have a black gown with a very plunging bare back and oh I think I can spare a blonde wig for you since your hair is a mess during that assassination attempt on the life of the Supreme Leader of the world. I believe we have an instant replay of that attempt, I caution the viewers out there, that these images are graphic and violent in content
The view of the television changed to show a red umbrella that was fully opened on its side, the opened umbrella blocked the view of who was behind of it but you could hear an “Ahhhhh” coming from behind it.
Karen then thought this better be an alternate Earth, for if this was her real Earth the one that she came from, a possibility exist that could explain all this strangeness coming from other humans and if that was true then Earth and maybe the rest of the known galaxy truly faced a potential enemy that none of its experiences or technologies could be used to defeat it or them.
The view went back to Balu the anchorman who said:
In other news, Hollywood insiders have reported that this summer’s blockbuster hit Turner 454 has made a record eight hundred seventy four million dollars in the two weeks it has been opened. The movie was based on a novel that was written for one of those Internet web chat room newsgroups sites a few years ago. We contacted the novel’s author who happens to be a local resident about this while attending the movie’s premiere at the Waikiki 3 theatre
The view showed a group of four people, which consisted of one adult male, one adult female, one teenage girl and one boy. In the background was a movie marquee that said “Waikiki 3 on one line and Turner 454 on the line below it. The adult male spoke and said:
That would be cool
The view went back to Balu the anchorman who then said
We will return to our locally scheduled program. If there is any additional on going developments in this story we will break in. This is Balu Halstrom for channel 6 news.
The view went back to the Babylon 5 episode. Karen thought to herself, some things were starting to make sense about this situation and if it was true she needed to be as far as away from Zonar and his lackeys and the rest of the UNSF. The later group seemed easy to do, they seemed to have been avoiding her as well too. The former group might be harder to do.
What to do next? She had no idea right now and that might seem to be the key to defeating Zonar. Karen was also hungry too.
