The Specimen

Chapter 10

“Yes it would be very ironic if taking these specimens back to our world would cause death and destruction.” said Dan

“It will not” said Les “It might cause some debate, changing the way we think about our self but life on our world will go on.”

“You do not think that a huge segment of our population will have great distress in thinking that we were wrong in how we viewed our role in the universe?” asked Dan

“It is not a matter of who is right and wrong, we are not born with all of the knowledge that the ones before us knew. We constantly learn new things on our world.” said Les

“Still we should be careful.” said Dan

“You worry too much.” said Les “Besides there are procedures to deal with that kind of situation. Right now others are studying what we found earlier.”

“So why are we doing a second survey now?” asked Dan

“Because there might other life forms on this world.” said Les

“Is some thing wrong?” asked Les

“I feel that some thing is watching us.” replied Dan

“You know that is a good sign.” said Les

“What do you mean, it is a bad sign, it means that a demon is ready to strike with out mercy on me and eat my insides.” said Dan

“And you believe a demon is after us now?” asked Les

“Why not?” said Dan

“I can not believe this.” said Les “You believe that we are alone in the universe and yet you believe in demons?”

“There were once demons on our world.” said Dan

“It is just a legend, some thing to frighten the little ones who refuse to obey their parents, not do their lessons and not eat their food.” said Les

“I see some thing.” said a voice, Les and Dan did not know who it was who said it, but when they got there they could not believe what they saw.

Unlike the first group of things that they saw this time it was a life form. It was moving it’s upper limbs above it’s body. It was smaller than them.

“I think it is trying to communicate with us” said Les

”It looks too small to be intelligent” said Dan

“May be it is one of the demons of the old legend.” said Les

“It is too small for that.” said Gem

“Really?” asked Les “How do you know it is not.”

“My parents told me about it when I was young.” said Gem “The story of them was passed down by generation to generation and it part of the story was the demon’s physically description.”

“And you believe those stories?” asked Les

“When I was young, yes I did, they were frightening, but I remember the stories well, this there is not a demon of legends old, how can it be here on this world far away from ours.” replied Gem.

“So Dan do you not agree we should collect this specimen to take back to our world?” asked Les

“Alright let us do it but please be careful.” replied Dan
