Tonight was the first chance I've had to write for five days. I'm more than 10,000 words behind. I was surprised to see I'd added 2,400 words with this fifth chapter, but I'm going to need a whole week's worth of 3,000-word writing streaks to catch up. My prospects don't look good.
But, technically at least, I've not quit yet.
This chapter was interesting, too, as I had to do some back-of-the-envelope studying on both Atlanta and Paul Gaugin. I was pleasantly surprised to find that Gaugin actually had a Pacific Island connection it was entirely accidental.
The next chapter will, I think, bring us back to the prologue. Finally. Whether it'll be easier or harder to write fiction about a place that's not only real, but that I know fairly well, is yet to be seen.
