INFINITY PRODUCTIONS is a fusion of two souls, complimented by two more. But, what does that really mean?

INFINITY PRODUCTIONS is basically serendipity in its truest meaning. A spontaneous occurrence of events resulting in mutual acceptance evolving into a lifetime commitment. Difficult to understand if you haven’t really experienced it, but easier accepted if you’ve daydreamed about it.

So how does this all tie into business? The business aspect of it all is too serendipitous. In the process of discovering each other, our common ground was a passion for creating and how to transform that into a way of life. INFINITY PRODUCTIONS is more our identity, since we are the brand.

What is our product? What are our services? At this point it’s basic print media for budget challenged individuals, organizations and businesses. We’ve realized that it takes more than our passion, more than our scouring through “How To’s” and “For Dummies”, and well the “trial and error” approach should be spent more on innovation rather than unawareness.

Continuing to take on projects within our scope of knowledge, we’ve decided to return to an accredited institution that will not only validate our skills through “official certification” but sort through and minimize the “trial and error” process we would have encountered if we had not made this decision. Furthermore, it will catapult us into the focus of today and tomorrow. At the turn of the New Year, despite many years as an apprentice, NOE will be seeking accreditation from the top Makeup Artistry schools and NEENZ will be diving into the Digital Media program at the nearby Community College.

Our plan is to solidify INFINITY PRODUCTIONS, not only as a business but by improving ourselves as individuals we will also strengthen our friendship and of course our relationship.

We’ve considered the challenges ahead, and were immediately confronted by the financial sacrifices, but remaining aspiring innovators, we know these are the first steps on our paths that we must take.

We have begun building our social media presence and networking and learning from the innovators of today. A huge inspiration for us has been Chris Brogan and locally known guru Ryan Ozawa. There’s modest interaction, but it’s their application of their knowledge that we deem to be wisdom that we’re seeking as well.

Our INFNITY blog hosted by OZAWA’s HawaiiStories is targeted to our audience that can relate to our experiences in our home, Hawaii. Our INFINITY PRO blog hosted by LiveJournal conveys the romance that has become INFINITY PRODUCTIONS and this one here, aptly named INFINITY PRODUCTIONS will focus on our road to enhancing our skills set, re-entering the student life, our approach to Web2.0 and our preparation for Web3.0, all the while balancing a home, our two little souls, and each other.

Friendships at times are of convenience; work, school, organizations, proximity all contribute to your current “social network.” I recently observed Lilinoe with a group of her friends, and by the end of the eventful night they adopted the name, “Halau Hula ‘O Moku Hale.”

I considered mapping out a flow chart to explain their connections, however here’s the “local style” logistics: My Nanny (maternal grandmother), Aunty Hu’i had two hula students: Kahealani (my second cousin) and Lilinoe (NOE of INFINITY PRODUCTIONS). Lilinoe attended Farrington High School with Reina. Kahealani attended Kamehameha Schools with Miki and Lisa. Lisa’s cousin Michelle attended Aiea High School with Patti…and as teenagers, they all became a group of friends or as I aptly jest, a gaggle of geese!

Observing Lilinoe with this group of friends reminded me that time and space are irrelevant with relation to sincere friendships. Each of them are determined, assertive women with Patti being the aspiring comedian! Lilinoe’s life is certainly enriched with this group, and yours will be too. Enjoy, “Halau Hula ‘O Moku Hale.”

My interest in the world wide web is hardly a secret, but it’s always been just a hobby. But, after reading a story in the Honolulu Advertiser about lifecasting my interest and hobby ignited a passion. The story featured Ryan Ozawa and his approach to lifecasting which span from his morning commute to his children’s school plays for their grandparents who reside in Florida to a simple day at the beach. I was immediately fascinated, and began reading and researching, discovering and uncovering everything Web2.0. Furthermore, OZAWA is also the webmaster of HawaiiThreads and HawaiiStories, the host of my blog, “INFINITY”.

This wasn’t an easy task to comprehend this “Web2.0,“ new acronyms like RSS and API were as common on websites like ‘About‘ and ‘Contact Us‘. New terminology like ‘widget’ were now mandatory if you wanted to “Mashup.”

A few years earlier, during the MySpace frenzy, not wanting to depend on my 14 year old cousin Ashley to ‘pimp my space’, I began reading and obtaining the basic codes of HTML, (Hyper Text Markup Language) and soon was comfortable and knowledgeable enough that others were inquiring with me to customize their spaces.

But, with Web2.0 I was soon realizing it was more comprehensive, it involved some serious reading and understanding. It was as if I was Kikaida, and all of these new terms and acronyms were the green and red androids I aptly named the “Get ums” because that’s what it sounded like they were saying when chasing down Kikaida.

My previous blog, SOCIAL NETWORKING took a humorous approach at the subject, but the reality is, I’m realizing this is reality…and more.

And so, I continue to read, learn, test, and battle Web2.0 which now has become an ally. Not because I’ve mastered it, but because I can appreciate it.

I’ve started with a few blogs, but stay tuned for a podcast, videocast, lifecast or all of the above!  Some might say that I’m late in the game for Web2.0, but I’d like to think that I’m early for Web3.0.

If you’ve been a reader of INFINITY BLOG, you already know that the title may be a hook to lure in the masses, but this one will actually touch upon the craze of online social networking.

Social networking has been a consistent phenom for the greater part of the millennium and I for one am chasing many hooks cast into the sea of the world wide web. We, (INFINITY PRODUCTIONS is the fusion of two souls, complimented by two more) have a reserved SPACE, FRIENDSTER, and would have been happy to upload our FACES, however INFINITY PRODUCTIONS is an unacceptable first or last name. If you’re wondering what we’re doing when we’re not with you, you can FOLLOW US or JOIN US. You can POWNCE on us, make us part of your TRIBE or even FLICKR or TUBE our okoles. And, if you cannot reach us in the office, at home, on our cellular phones, or by text message you can try SKYPE.

But why all of this social networking? Are we lacking of friends or worse yet are we lacking a life? Far from the truth, and I believe I’ve found the source, the beginning of my SN addiction. My parents.

Now, I won’t make reference and place Freudian blame, that’s too easy, but I will explain. It’s simple, my parents have an above average social life. And, being raised amongst many of their different groups of friends has taught me acceptance and appreciation of different cultures; behavior and manners in different social settings; and apparently an affinity for socializing!

My brothers, sisters and I had our own descriptions of their groups.

There are, the “Japanese Uncles”, my parent’s friends from high school, basically McKinley High School Class of ‘67. The “Aunties”, my Mom’s co-workers, the original Yellow Pages publishing staff. Then there were the “Boys”, no not my father’s group of friends remember they‘re the “Japanese Uncles”, but the members of his numerous boys’ basketball teams, so of course we had the “Girls.” As we continued in life we added, the “Bobby Sox Gang”; the “Hula Studio” not to be mistaken with the “Kumu Lounge Gang”; the “Punahou People”; the “Golfing Friends”; the “Sewing Ladies”; the “People from PACT”, the “Urban Guys”; and we have our default group, “Da Kine Dem”.

A conversation on creating a guest list sounds a bit like this,

“So we got the Japanese Uncles, the Aunties what about the ‘Punahou People’?”

“How many is that so far? We forgot about the ‘Urban Guys’.”

“Nah, no need the all the ‘Boys’ and some of the ‘Girls’ live on the mainland now.”

“Okay, add ‘em up.”

“600 hundred people, that’s it right?”

“No, we forgot about ‘Da Kine Dem’.”

Digg!
