Living Out of Boxes

Wednesday, July 20th, 2005

Thank you to all of you who missed me. :) I feel special! :)

Well, just about all of our things are in our new place. Will be getting cable tomorrow…. sometime between 1 and 3. Ha ha, we all know how that goes…. I’m prepared to be home all day. My little one took a couple of days to get used to the new place. It’s amazing how aware they are of their surroundings at 3 1/2 months old. It’s really hard to believe that in a few days he will be 4 months old!!

Now that the little man rolls over, he does the cutest things in the crib. For instance, the other morning (about 4:30 in the morning…) I found him rolled over onto his tummy sucking his thumb, trying to fall back asleep. He couldn’t do it, but just to know that he’s trying is awesome. Another morning, I heard him stirring, but his eyes hadn’t opened yet so I went to get a drink of water. When I came back, he had rolled over and had grabbed a hold of a plush toy above his head and was playing with it. My husband found him doing the same thing this morning at 5:30. He’s so funny!

For right now, I’m living out of boxes….. well, not entirely. I’ve gotten the majority of the kitchen, the essentials in the bathroom, our CDs and DVDs, and my son’s stuff all put away. Hubby’s and my clothes are in 3 gigantic boxes and it’s sooo much fun digging through them every morning to find clothes to wear to work…

Oh, did I mention I had my interview at Kamehameha last Friday. That was a lot of fun . . . especially when I got lost on the way out!!! Ha ha, I was laughing at myself the whole time. I kept going up the hill when I knew that I needed to go DOWN! All I could think was good thing I didn’t get lost on the way TO the interview. Hopefully I’ll hear back from them this week, but from what I figure, if it’s meant to be, it’s meant to be. If not, that’s okay. I’ll substitute again this year and save money on child care. :)

I’ve got my desk all set up in the living room. once summer school is over (2 more days!!), I’ll have the time to focus on my writing. I’d love to post my ideas and drafts here and get some feedback. This is such a great forum and I’m happy to be a part of it!

Have a great day!!!!

Online Applications

Tuesday, June 28th, 2005

So I’m looking for a job, right. And my husband tells me that Kamehameha is hiring teachers for the Fall and that I should apply. Sounds good since I don’t really have a full-time job. I’m teaching summer school and that’ll be done in about 3.5 weeks. Anyway, I go to the Kamehameha job listings site and sure enough, I qualify for something…. yay! Then I learn that I have to apply online….

The message that pops up prior to me starting my adventure with the online application states that I should allow myself 30 minutes to complete the process of applying. I look up at the clock. 11:30. Okay, I’ll be done by midnight and will still have time to prep for my class tomorrow before retiring. I begin completing question after question. Some answers I cut and paste from previous resumes and application questions, saving me time. Oh, I’ll be done by 11:50 for sure…. My eyes begin to droop and my wrists begin to cramp up. As I click on that long awaited “Finish” button, I look up at the clock. 1:30. Goodness! It’s past my bedtime!

But of course here I am. Burning the Midnight Oil. Hmm. I’m hungry.
