love songs
Earlier this evening, a couple of Matt's friends were over helping him select music for the wedding reception. Lots of Air Supply and Chicago has been sorted through, along with assorted love songs from the eighties. For fun they've also downloaded anti-love songs: Adam Sandler singing Love Stinks, Marilyn Manson's cover of Tainted Love, and Social Distortion's Ball and Chain.
It's tempting to actually throw them into the mix and watch the guests' reactions.

ok, I have to ask.. is Rick Astley anywhere on that list, or am I a freak for wanting it at my wedding?
He's not on the list. And I can't be a judge of possible freakishness since I've never heard of him until now. I lived under a rock during the eighties, especially music-wise. I once had a summer course at UH with Glen Medeiros and I didn't know he was a singer until he wrote an essay about singing the national anthem at a game of his favorite football team. (We had to read and comment on each others work.) Seeing that they don't just let anyone do that, I had to ask my sister-in-law if he was a singer or something.
If he never wrote that essay, I'd probably would have never known that I had played around with a pocket dictionary looking up drug names with someone who once had a hit song.
