Mom’s Day

I was racking my brain trying to find the words to express how special my mother is. I wanted to write a Mother’s Day post that would show just how much Mom means to me and how much she has meant to our family. But those words are so very hard to come by.

And then it dawned on me. So much of what has been shared in this journal is a reflection of Mom. In many stories that I’ve shared about the past, Mom is there helping, doing, giving, nurturing, being the glue that keeps our family together and always shining bright.

In posts where Mom isn’t mentioned, her influence and guidance is present. Even at the very root of my writing, Mom is there. She patiently taught me the alphabet, showed me the art of one-finger-spacing, and has always been quick to encourage my writing and self-expression.

Indeed, your mom’s presence is here throughout your journal. Your most endearing stories are about your family. From your mom’s creative fireman’s costume on a rainy Halloween night to the generous way she shared her crafts with a teacher she met at the store, she is truly a mom to be proud of. And it’s a testament to her that she’s risen such an admirable son in you. Happy Mother’s Day to your mom!

I often don’t think of mothers day the same way anymore since my mother passed away. Sometimes I feel envious of other people on mothers day and I guess that is sad. It’s nice to see you recognize the contributions that your mother has made in your life. Have a good one Kane.

Hi Kane! Man, just trying to get to your site was an effort in itself as it seems that today, nothing is cooperating. I finally got here through Giao’s site. Whew… Thank god for her site!

It’s been awhile since I checked out HawaiiStories and it amuses me to pieces when I get ’spammed’ hehehe. Speaking of which, I skimmed through that previous past about the Spam jam and a thought came to mind–isn’t there suppose to be something like a Taste of Hawaii or Honolulu around this time of year? I really, really miss those events, and just the thought of eating local food in tropical surroundings makes me nuts. I want to visit home!!! Sigh, maybe next year. Take care and have a good day!
