Snack Craving

A few hours after eating an early dinner, I was struck with a craving for a snack. There’s no fruit in the house, so that was out. I still have a bucket of Halloween candy, but I wasn’t in the mood for candy. For a moment, I considered popcorn, but decided against it after remembering how I almost choked to death from the fumes that filled the house the last time I made microwave popcorn. I still have Christmas cookies that Mom sent, but they’re frozen in the freezer so that they will last longer. I knew I didn’t have any ice cream, but out of habit I opened the freezer door anyway. Lo and behold, a small unopened container of Dove Chocolate & Brownie Affair that I had forgotten all about. I love those kind of surprises.

    Me too :) I found a box of brownie mix yesterday and made brownies. Mmmm.

    MAJOR surprise! Love when that happens. I just succumbed to popcorn. Orville Redenbacher’s Kettle corn and it’s not really satisfying me like some good Dove brand ice cream would!

    Your description of opening the freezer door “out of habit” triggered a childhood memory of mine: my mom’s voice scolding me for opening the fridge out of habit far too often to poke around to see what’s there. She complained that with all my opening and shutting of the refrigerator, I was wasting away precious energy resources! :) Great post. Enjoy the ice cream while it lasts!

    Dori, my father used to tell my brothers and I that our continued standing in front of the opened refrigerator was going to give us a cold. :)

    Hi Jeff, you left a comment at my site ages ago, and I happened to be re-reading the entry and comments, and decided to see if the link was still active. So, I found your old site (smart of you to leave it up with a link here), and here I am. Then, I read this entry, and wouldn’t you know, you’ve got me craving that pint of Coffee flavoured Häagen-Dazs ice cream that I’ve been methodically spooning from for the past week. One spoonful at a time, is what I allow myself… And I agree, it’s truly delightful to have something so sweet to fall back on… :)
