hmm. you know i’ve always wondered about living in hawaii. i just never really got around to seriously considering it coz ive never come across a job posting for a hawaii company/organization. should look that up.

Man, almost 5 bucks for a half gallon of milk? Crazy! I get mine for like 2.20 or so, if it’s on sale at Safeway. Maybe it’s the lack of cows there? Gotta ship all the milk over.

  4. Kane Says:

Janet, I wanted to compile a list of things people could relate to. I’m not a Bud kind of guy, but it is the biggest selling beer in the states.

Jo Anne, job listings in Hawaii are rather limited. Many young people from the islands move to the states for employment reasons.

Imelda, we have lots of cows, but I think they’re union cows. :)

I’m still shaking my head. Woweee. Is that can of coffee a one pound can of coffee? I got a 1/2 gallon of organic milk for .99 yesterday and the eggs sometimes on sale for .99, too. Folger’s coffee –those sealed packages of 11.5 oz, I believe, is usually about $2.50. And a one pound of specialty coffee is 7.99 or 8.99 per lb. If I lived down there I’d be on the rice and beans, island fruits and water diet. Thanks for the insight. A real eye-opener.

$4.79 for a half gallon? I got a gallon of milk at Sam’s Club for $1.80, other stores run from $2.00 - 2.49. We complain about our prices going up but seeing yours makes me feel lucky!

I hope you’re having a great weekend! *HUGS*

Last year, I found a photograph of yours on the Thousand Beautiful Things website; it was an exquisite image of a fallen leaf and I saved it to my computer for my own pleasure. Today I shared your image with readers of my journal, and the thought occurred to me that I should check with you and make sure you don’t mind. Your link at A Thousand Beautiful Things didn’t work, but with a little searching on Google, I manage to find you here.

This is a link to the journal page with your photo: http://zinc-tart.livejournal.com/2006/04/06/

I really hope you don’t mind - my readers are only a select few - but if it does bother you, comment or e-mail me, and I’ll take it down.

Hey there. I’ve been missing your posts (although I’ve not posted on my site for ages either). Just thought I’d drop a line. Hope all is well with you, and that a little time away from your site signals good things in your non-virtual life. Take care of yourself.

  15. mom Says:

    missing you

  16. jo anne Says:

in light of mother’s day, i think you should do something about your mom missing you.

    like update or something;).

    hope all is well, kane.

    Just stopping by!

  18. RayneToday Says:

Hey Kane! Need a favor (after all this time not stopping by, very sorry). Have a young friend moving to Hawaii at the end of August. How accurate are these prices — have they changed much in the last 8 months since you posted them? And what are the most important things a newbie to the Big Island should do first? Pls. drop me an email if you’re able to answer, anything would be a help. Mahalo and warmest aloha!
