A day at Tokyo Disneyland
Sep 28th, 2003 by Leimamo
Although this wasn’t our first visit to Disneyland, it was our most enjoyable. Everything was perfect! We left home on time and we took all the right turns and exits that we didn’t get lost to and from Disneyland. When we got there, we found out the park opened an hour earlier than we thought but we still managed to park near the entrance.
This time, I was ready for anything. We packed food, bottled water, juice, snacks, jackets, umbrella, blankets. I was ready for rain, shine or snow. We hauled everything on Kamalani’s stroller. One guy commented that I had a big bag when he realized that overloaded stroller belonged to us.
The park was decorated in a Halloween theme. We watched the Halloween Parade which is held only during this time of the year so it was pretty special for us. Of course, we also watched the Electric Light Parade and Fantasy in the Skies firework show.
A friend of mine from Arizona asked if the park was the same as in the States. The attractions are the same as back in the states, but all the charaters speak in Japanese. Some of the narrations are bi-lingual but for the most part, it’s done in Japanese. Another huge difference is the pride the staff has in everything they do. They’ll go out of their way to ensure you have a pleasant experience. But that’s not just limited to Disneyland, you can find this “eagerness to please” wherever you go. This is the one of things I’ll miss about Japan when time comes for us to leave.
My grand daughter is too friendly and most Japanese people find her amusing because she’ll play and nod her head as though she understands what their kids are saying. We usually let her interact with those children and their parents while we watch and laugh. After a while, we’ll have her give the children some American goodies, they absolutely love chocolate candies. The parents are always so appreciative.
Anyway, the day was picture perfect and we had a blast!
