It's just us

Thanksgiving

11.27.03

Thanksgiving was quiet for us. Hubby is deployed, my daughter had to work so it was just me and Kamalani. It was chilly outside and thankfully, the sun was out. She could hear the neighbor children playing outside so she wanted to go outside too. After dressing her in layers of clothes, I took her out back and played ball with her until the sun started setting behind a small hill behind our house. She had enough playtime to exert her energy and when she came into the house, she laid on the hali’i, covered herself with her faux mink blanket and fell asleep watching PBS Kids.

We got a real treat though because hubby called us lastnight and again this morning so we all got to wish him Happy Thanksgiving!

Cell phones

11.27.03

Since my daughter had the day off from work a few days ago, we decided to head out into town to replace my cell phone. Something was wrong with the speaker so I couldn’t hear if there was a call coming in and I couldn’t hear voice messages people left. You’d think it would be an easy transaction but nooooo. I thought it would also be cheaper for me to keep my phone number and just get a new phone but it was more expensive to go that route. So instead of paying nearly $80 - 100 for a new phone, I canceled that contract and took a new one which cost me $50 plus a free phone. Go figure. Anyway, this phone is pretty cool. I remember when we went home two summers ago, everyone oooohed and ahhhhhed when my daughter showed them her phone that took pictures. The phones we have now not only takes pictures, it also records mini movies that last a few seconds. Both can be sent via email for about 13 cents. I didn’t subscribe to the internet service they offer but my daughter did so she can send pics to my sons back home and in MA. Can’t wait to see what they come up with next.
