It's just us

Nunya

04.21.04

I was playing with my cell phone today, fixing whatever it was that Kamalani had changed. She knows more about the features than I do. That’s kinda scary. Anyway, she asked what I was doing and I said, none of your business. She said, no grandma, it’s nunya, not none of your business, She remembers what her Papa told her the many times that she asked what he was doing.

I’m glad her mom has the day off tomorrow. I want to do some more cleaning and basically sorting out stuff that have piled up over the past weeks, months and even years. It’s difficult to do with her because she starts touching and writing on things. Just getting in the way. I tried doing to her what I did to her mom when she was Kamalani’s age. All of the children had chores to do. The Good Son and Meg had special chores though since they weren’t very good at cleaning anything. Their chore was to STAY OUT OF EVERYONE’S WAY. Kamalani won’t hear of it. She wants to get her hands into everything, she wants to do real chores, anything BUT cleaning up her mess. I’ve spent the day pointing out toys that needs to be put away and she keeps saying, “I’m going to do it grandma” then gets distracted by another toy. She wants me to build her a cardboard stage so she can have a puppet show but I told her it’s not gonna happen until all her toys are picked up. As of this posting, she hasn’t had her puppet show. Quite honestly, I don’t think she’ll be having a puppet show in the near future either. Maybe she’s waiting for her Papa to get home so he can help her pick up her toys in the living room? I know if I ask her she’ll probably respond with something like, “nunya!”

I love my hubby!

04.20.04

I just read his comments to lastnight’s entry and even though he got confused (because thinking about me excites him beyond belief … so I’d like to think), I still love him! Just a little note to add: Although it will be 26 years of marital bliss in September, we’ve been together for 28 years. I shed a few tears and even spared a sniffle or two because I can be as dramatic as Kamalani. Where do you think she got her cuteness from? Oh right, the BAD gene pool!

That’s all for now.

Hurry up, Dork!

04.20.04

I thought I’d get this up really quick before I forget about it later in the day. This morning, before taking her mom to work, we were gathering the trash to take out. Anyway, lil miss bossy was sitting in the car waiting for us (we were going to drop her mom off at work). She opened the door and shouted, “Hurry up, Dork”. Megs just laughed and asked if I heard what she said. I did. So I went out with my bag of trash to put into the trash bin and she opened the car door again and shouted to me, “I said HURRY UP Dork!”. Then she laughed and quickly shut the door. She gets that from the bad gene pool, I swear it!

The Eager Chef

Megs was pretty funny today. Right before she left for work, after her afternoon break, Kamalani mentioned something about chocolate chip cookies. We have some Chip’s Ahoy in the pantry but that’s not what she wants. Noooo, she wants to bake them instead. That means Betty Crocker time with Grandma! Why me?

Today was a really sucky day as far as the weather goes. I thought I’d write something here while we wait for the butter to soften. I’m so tired of watching PBSKids. I need adult conversation. Kamalani pretends she’s an adult but a second later, she wahhhhs like an infant. Our friend Fran says I should be recording her because she’s a natural actress and she’s a ham to boot!

Fran told her that she was going to take her to the beauty shop to get a pedicure, Kamalani flipped her hair over her shoulders and fluttered her eyes then smiled rather flirtatiously and said, “ok”. I had to turn my head to laugh. Those are things I should be recording because she can be so funny.

Oh, I forgot to mention that she’s learning to sound out words to spell them. Gotta love Between the Lions on PBS for stressing use of phonics to sound out words. She also has her leap pad that she uses to sing along the Alphabet Sounds Song.

WE can’t wait for her Papa to get home because sometimes she gets bored with me. I entertain her as much as possible but she needs variation. After a while, I can become too boring for her and when that happens, I end up having to do stuff like play Betty Crocker and thus, bake cookies!

Feeling better

04.18.04

Woke up this morning feeling 100% better than I did when I went to bed lastnight. At 8:30 this morning, I was outside filling up Kamalani’s swimming pool so the water could warm up by early afternoon. We didn’t do anything exciting but I decided to scan those pictures we developed lastweek. I had to install the scanner and damn, it took a while to get all those pictures scanned and I even worked on some to upload to the gallery. Just click on the picture to view the rest of the pictures. There are only two pictures added but there will be more.
