Birthday wishes

I can’t believe we’re all in our 40’s, except my youngest brother who is rapping very loudly on the 40’s door. We haven’t all been together since my father’s funeral five years ago but I’ve spent some time with them individually, as a good big sister should. We’ve all grown up and got on with our lives, had children and slowly we’ve been grown too busy to get together as much as we should. And I’ve moved away from home …. again.
My brother Gino came to Japan last summer and brought my mother along on the trip. It was so good to see them, truly. Being the eldest child and only daughter for many years (until my hana’i sister came along), it was my duty to care for my brothers. I’ll admit, it was no easy task but the closeness we now share was well worth the headaches and bloody noses we gave each other (at one point or another) when we were young. I get all choked up when I start thinking about my brothers because I miss them.
Today is Gino’s 41st birthday. My wish for him is that he have peace of mind and a lifetime of love and happiness. Oh, and of course another trip to Japan. ![]()
