I’m not really a sports fan. I don’t usually watch any sports but there’s something about watching the Olympics. Maybe it has something to do with having Olympic Athletes from Hawaii or maybe it’s just rooting for the home team, I’m not sure what the attraction is. Perhaps it’s just knowing that I’m watching the best of the best athletes compete in THE Games.
When we were back home, we watched the UH games and we watched the OIA football games. Volleyball has always been our favorite spectator sport so I eagerly waited to see if there were any players from Hawaii and sure enough there was. I know I could’ve easily checked online for information on Hawaiian Athletes in the Olympics but I wasn’t thinking. Who knows, maybe one day we might see this guy in a future Olympics.

Aloha e Leimamo! I surfed in from HawaiiStories.
I’m not a sports fan either, but there is something about the Olympics that gets everyone in my ohana misty-eyed and motivated. I think it is watching the best of the best.
And no matter what the event, we always watch for the athletes/contestants/etc. from Hawaii. Especially the Miss America pageants. We always agree that Miss Hawai’i completely blows away the competition. (I thought it was so strange that years ago, hula wasn’t allowed in the pageant, because it was too “ethnic.”)
When I was in Hawai’i, though, I watched the ‘Bows basketball team faithfully!
