4 plus 1 makes 5

Five, that’s right, FIVE grandchildren. I got word a few weeks ago that my youngest son and his girlfriend are expecting another child in September. It was pretty funny because he was afraid to tell me. In fact, my Aunt called me one day so she could give me the news.
Megs called him last week because she met up with one of his old high school friends who is now stationed here in Japan. They talked for a while then she brought up their new addition. He was surprised at how quickly and how far the news had traveled. After they spoke for a bit, she handed the phone over to me so I could speak to him. His first words were, “Mom, she (his girlfriend) spiked my beer with ecstacy.” Then he continued with, “I don’t even think I was there when she got pregnant.” Of course, I just laughed at him then asked him if he was afraid to tell me. He thought I’d be disappointed because they’re really young and it would’ve been better if they had waited a while. My thing is this, if they can afford to care for their baby and they love that baby, then I’m happy for all of them. I think he needed to hear that I was okay with this news, I could hear the relief in his voice.
One of these days, all of my grandchildren will need to gather together so we can do a family portrait. We might wait on that since our children aren’t quite done having children. They need to quit drinking spiked beer and start drinking filtered water. heh.
