What is with this weather?
Apr 13th, 2005 by Leimamo
Last week, we had the greatest weather. Most of the week, it was in the upper 60’s into the 70’s. Just when I thought spring has finally arrived, it got down to mid-lower 40’s. The bad thing is that the base controls the heat for all the housing units and they turned off the heat last week while we had all that great warm temperatures. I had to bring in the portable heaters just to keep my toes warm.
I called a friend to see if she could get someone to maintain my yard in Washington, I thought with all the warm weather, the grass must’ve started growing again and I didn’t want to have to use a machete to find the front door when we finally get there in 47 days!!! Can you tell I’m excited?
The movers are scheduled to pack our things up next Monday so I’ve been scrambling around the house like a chicken without a head, organizing the “junk” from the “store items” and the “keep with us” stack. And we still have another shipment still in storage somewhere on the mainland.
I should consider myself lucky that of most of his 28 years of active duty service, we’ve only moved a total of 4 times. Thank goodness he choose to be a yeoman and he could serve sea duty and active duty in Hawaii. We had the opportunity to raise our children in Paradise and they are one of the very few military children who know where their roots are.
My friend in Washington told me the weather there was cold for Spring too. She said their warmest temperature so far was maybe in the 50’s … brrrrrrrr .. What was I thinking when I decided to make Washington our home? Oh right, I remember now - We can’t afford to live back home. ![]()
