Plastic Bags 101

06.28.05

I sometimes read news sites especially now since my only form of entertainment IS the internet. I don’t always read the editorials but something made me click on the link and here’s something that I read and laughed about. I think you’ll enjoy reading it too. (all one or two of you)

The letter was submitted to the Whidbey News Times by Jim Larsen on June 22nd.

There’s always bread in our bread drawer, but finding it can be a challenge.

First you have to dig through the empty plastic bags from Albertson’s, Safeway, Saars, Pay-Less, K-Mart, and the other upper-crust establishments where I spend my shopping time. This greatly frustrates my wife who feels one should easily be able to find bread in the bread drawer, just as you can instantly find a knife in the knife drawer. She doesn’t seem to understand that the knife drawer is too skinny to hold all those plastic bags and that the empty bags make finding the bread a challenge. We were driving to the NEX one day and happened to pass by this sign. I had done a double take because it did get my attention. I thought if I did what the sign said, I’d get attention for sure; not just from them but also from the police station just a few short blocks away. *L*

I don’t know what happened to the comment pages with the other theme. When I clicked on the comment link, the entire comment form is missing. I don’t mind this theme, it’s nice and simple and right now I’m in a nice-n-simple mood anyway.

Methinks it’s time to call on the big kahuna to fix this for me - - - - - again.

Unpacking

06.15.05

Our shipment came in last Friday. Hooray! Instead of having an empty house, we now have a house full of boxes that still need to be unpacked and put away. At this point I don’t know which is worse.

Yesterday was my birthday so we had a luncheon with Bernie at this new place called Jumbo Buffet. In the two weeks that we’ve been here, we’ve already eaten there 3 times. It’s an Asian Buffet and the price is reasonable but most of all the food is Onolicious. Reminds me of the Chinese Restaurants back home, especially the shrimp dishes and my favorite beef broccoli. I need to remember to pack my camera next time so I can post some pictures of the food.

The Transition

I’ve known all along that we were fortunate to have the benefits which the Navy has given us. What I didn’t know was just how fortunate we were. (more…)
