We’re heeeeere

We just barely made our flight. It’s not that we were late at arriving at the airport, we got there a few hours early. What happened was that we had lunch then went shopping for last minute gifts for our friends. Then we only had 10 minutes to get to our gate which was nearly 20 minutes away, walking distance. On our way to the gate, I saw someone holding a sign with our flight number on it. I waved her down and told her it was our flight, then she said we needed to hurry because it was final call for boarding. These are the times I wish we hadn’t had that many carry-ons to haul to the plane. We were the last to board the plane. We were sweating and out of breath but we made our flight.
Then we arrived at our house to find out the City turned off our water. I had to call the emergency number to have someone come out to unlock the main valve. They charged $75 for reconnection but I called the office the following day because it wasn’t supposed to have been locked to begin with and they apologized for the inconvenience and they’ll waive the service fee.
When we were still in Japan, I went online to order new service for gas but the company didn’t respond to my order so the first night here, we were freezing. The next day I called the company and ordered new service. They scheduled the start up for yesterday. We took showers at a friend’s house and our friend came over with some newspaper and a candle lighter to get our pellet stove fired up since I am totally clueless about any type of stoves to keep us warm. It was so warm that it felt like an oven by morning. But I’m not complaining, we slept comfortably.
Yesterday our friend came over to take me to run a few errands but we looked so comfortable sleeping together on the floor that she ended up laying with us until the gas service worker interrupted our sleep. He turned on our gas and lit the furnace and water heater. Eureka, we have hot water!
Hubster bought a new truck while we were in Japan and it was supposed to have been ready for delivery yesterday. I called the dealership to see if the truck was ready. Not only was the truck not there, the dealership still hadn’t received any paperwork from the NEX. So I had to call the overseas sales team and find out where the truck was. They apologized for the inconvenience and offered to pay for a car rental while I wait for the truck. So far they estimate 1-2 weeks wait time. The truck is in Oregon and needs to be unloaded somewhere and reloaded, then trucked up to the dealership here in Washington. Then it’ll take about a week to detail the truck before I can actually recieve it. This just goes to show, it doesn’t matter how well you plan everything, something will always come up to mess up your plans.
We still don’t have phone service or internet service so we’ve been making calls from our friend’s house. Whenever her cell phone rings while we’re on the road, I answer with, “Bernie’s personal secretary”. Her daughter called and when I said that she was silent for a second then realized it was me. She said her mom must be stepping up in the world if she has a personal secretary.
Today will be another busy day. I need to find out if our household goods have arrived yet, then schedule delivery. We just want our beds:)
