A break from the rugrat

Whenever I have some important errand to run, I call a friend who runs a day care home to see if she has room for Kamalani. Like for instance, when my brother was in the hospital or when we were shopping for a house. Well today I dropped the lil bundle of joy off with our friend Bernie. She was so anxious to spend some time with Bernie’s visiting grand daughter.
We weren’t going to do anything that was very important but I had Bernie’s grandson with me along with Kamalani so things could’ve been chaotic. What was the errand we ran? Well, since my brother can’t do his shopping on his own, I shopped with him. Granted, it’s not really an errand, but Lopaka (brother) is half paralyzed so he walks very slowly. He hates using his cane and leg brace so we just take one step at a time until we get into the store and he finds a motorized cart to ride. That’s when he transforms himself into NASCAR shopper. I’m exaggerating. He’s pretty good at manuevering it with one hand. Usually Kamalani will sit on his lap and he’ll let her control the accelerator. I pretend not to know them when they go zooming down the aisle and narrowly avoiding shelves of canned goods. You can hear her laughing from across the store.
Anyway, we went shopping at a grocery store that sells the only brand of Shoyu we ever use. Aloha Shoyu. They had a gallon on sale for $7.97. I wonder what the price for a gallon is back home. Does anyone know? I thought it was a pretty good deal for here so we bought 4 gallons which should last us a while.
Lopaka said I was poisoning his body with real food so he went and bought him a week’s supply of junk foods. He grabbed every different box of Little Debbies sweets. ~shudders~ All that sugar, YUCK. While he ate, he rolled his eyes back and moaned. I thought he was having an orgasm, it grossed me out. After he was done pigging out on his sweets, he drank a coke then went out to have a cigarette. When he was through, he went into the room and fell asleep. You’d think it was better than sex by the way he acted.
I tried to sleep since we didn’t have any kids in the house but hubby kept calling me to pass him things while he worked outside. He’s done a terrific job at installing our garage door opener. He’s so proud of it because it wasn’t as easy to install as I thought it would be. There were so many alterations to be made. He asked about getting it professionally installed and was quoted something like $100. He said screw that and took his time working on his project. We’re both glad that he did, every one of the 4 controllers work. It rises and falls so smoothly. His next project will probably be installing the lawn lights along the walkway. Retirement is doing wonders for him, there’s always something for him to do around the house.
The rugrat is sleeping at Nana Bernie’s house tonight. I was expecting her to call but she hasn’t. I guess all is well over there with Nana Bernie’s granchildren. When we left from dorpping off some of her clothes she hugged me so tight and told me that she’ll be missing me. I bet she forgot all about that as soon as she went back into the house to play with Gabbie. Bernie and her daughter insists I’m the one who needs to nip the apron string and let her grow up. I’m gonna use this time to catch up on some much needed sleep.

Good baby sitters are always hard to come by. I was always grateful I had a great babysitter and da kids all got along too. Kids always listen to da Babysitta betta den dey parents, ha come? LOL
