Serenade me

Aside from the fact that I logged in to find 238 spam comments, everything is going well for us. On Friday night, my son (in Hawaii) phoned to tell me how much he loves and misses us. He was at my youngest brother’s house celebrating my sister-in-law’s birthday. She’s 29 again!(for the umpteenth time). So he put her on the phone and I wished her a happy birthday. Then she put my other brother’s wife on the phone and we talked for a little while before she put my brother on the line. We talked about my aunt’s recent passing and how nice it was to see the cousins who live on the big island. Then he said my son was singing in the background to Darren Benitez singing El Burro Socarron. He wasn’t singing background, it was more of the ay yay yay thingie. My brother put the phone near my son so I could hear him. When my son came back on the line I asked if he was singing. He said, “Hello mom, you know I can’t sing.”

This is true. (more…)

Well folks, about the position I interviewed for last week. I didn’t get it. It’s okay though, the woman who interviewed me said the interview was wonderful but the other person did better. Ah well, maybe it’s not time for me to go back to work. Maybe I need to wait until my brother is all set up in his own place and my rugrat is attending school all day instead of half days in kindergarten. Maybe I need to wait and see what needs to be done about the pinched nerve in my neck.

Speaking of that, I went to see the doc yesterday with the MRI reading. He now referred me to a neurologist for additional testing. It seems my spinal cord is flattening but he wants more testing before he decides how to treat it.

Here are a few questions you’ve probably dreaded asking with answers you’ve always wanted to hear. A friend of mine sent this to me on email and I thought I’d share it with y’all.

Beauty Shop of Horror

Way back in May I had my hair straightened in Japan. It was my 6 month touch up, actually it was more like a year since my first straightening but since I wasn’t going anywhere I didn’t think I should do the touch up until I was ready to move back to the states. I’ve done some online research and found out the Japanese straightening has finally made it’s way to the states so I was sort of relieved that I could get it done here.

I went to the NEX’s Beauty Salon and they assured me that they were trained in performing this Japanese straightening. Bells should’ve went on when I asked for the price and they didn’t have one. EEEKS. They took my name and number then called me a few days later to give me a price quote of $165.00 That seemed pretty reasonable, that’s close to what they charged in Japan. The process is very long, taking around 4 hours to complete. At the end of the 4+ hour you should have shiny, smooth straight hair. Well, sadly that wasn’t the case with the NEX Beauty Salon.
