What about Papa?

Kamalani was here on Saturday while her mother went to work. I had planned to go grocery shopping in the morning but had some difficulty getting motivated to move my ass. By the time I was ready to leave, it was nearly 4:00 in the evening.
I think I’ve become addicted to the coffee beans they sell at the commissary therefore it was a neccessity for me to do my shopping that day. I was all out of coffee beans. Oh, and I guess I needed food too. ~L~
Anyway, we first ran to do some errands, like pick up my brother’s prescription at the pharmacy that’s located in one of the grocery stores in town. When we walked toward the entrance, Kamalani shook her head at all the Valentine ’s Day display and asked why everyone has so much Valentine’s stuff at the stores. It sounded as though she were complaining about it. Of course that was until we walked into the store and she spotted a Disney Princess Valentine balloon. Her face lit up and she turned to me wearing her “I promise I’ll be good if you buy that for me” smile. Then she asked if I’d buy that for her. I was on a mission so I told her it isn’t Valentine’s day yet. She said she knows that but could I still buy it for her ON Valentine’s day. I told her I’d think about it. Well, she was determined to leave the store with more than my brother’s pills so she asked if we could buy something for Papa. I told her Papa likes when I don’t spend his money on him. She doesn’t get that. Anyway, we ended up leaving with just the meds.
Our next stop was to WalMart so I could develop some photos that I had on an SD card. You see, normally I’d just email photos to friends or relatives but since my son is a guest at the place where kalohe people check in, he doesn’t have access to internet so I have to develop photos to send him. When we walked into the store, her face lit up again. She wanted me to buy her the Bambi 2 DVD which sorta just smacked you in the face upon entering the store. I told her I’d think about it but first I had something to do for her uncle. She was sick of hearing about the things I had to do for her uncles. So she tried to trick me once again by telling me we should really get something for Papa. A surprise she said. I told her that we still had one more stop and we could probably find something for Papa at the commissary. Papa doesn’t mind if we use his money to buy him food. ~L~ After I got the photos developed, we were on our way to the commissary.
I keep forgetting that this commissary closes at 6:00. I’m not used to going to any store that closes that early. I don’t understand that because most people get off of work at 4-5 which leaves them only an hour to do their grocery shopping?? That’s the military for you, folks. So we hear the announcement over the intercom that informs us that the store will be closing in 15 minutes. I’m not even half way through the store, so I quickly run through the aisles looking for the important stuff. When I’m just about done, we pass by the freezer section to get some ice cream and she spots the ready to bake Valentine’s sugar cookies. She looks at me, then smiles while looking into the glass door of the freezer. I’m psychic so I ask her if she’d like us to bake Valentine cookies when it’s our turn to keep her for the school week. She nods then asks if we can get two of each so she and her mom can bake cookies at their house too. I give in because well, I just do and we end up with 4 packages of cookies and a very happy child. So I ask her about getting Papa something and she looks at me and says, “Oh nevermind, I change my mind”
