On the Road Again

I didn’t realize how cooped up my brother felt until he got his new wheels delivered to him last week. I don’t think there’s a day since then that he’s not taken it out for a spin. You would not believe the look of confidence and proud independence he has on his face when he starts his engine and shifts into high gear. He rode from his apartment (which is about a mile away) to my house yesterday. Now he doesn’t need for us to drive him. It’s cute how we all gathered at the window to watch him as he drove away. I’m always amazed at how far he’s come and how much he’s determined to become more independent. BTW, the cost of his new wheels (compliments of Medicaid) is almost as much as a car.

How wonderful to hear of his new independence. Good for him! I remember using one one myself for two years. I took the Handi Van, Bus and traveled all ova. Being disabled never stopped me from going all ova the place. I remained independent. That’s the best part. Doing things for ones self without any help! Congrats to your brother and to your loving faminly for supporting him with LOVE and UNDERSTANDING!
