Happy Easter

First and foremost, Happy Easter everyone!
Easter this year was disappointing. For starters, Kamalani’s mother promised to drive a friend 3 hours out to the airport, then 3 hours back home. So she brought Kamalani here lastnight around midnight. I didn’t get to see them yesterday because my (surprise) visiting Aunty wanted to meet them at the tulip field before taking them to the mall for a little bit of shopping. Anyway, they returned from the outting around 4:00 p.m. with plenty of time to boil eggs and decorate them. Did my daughter think of that? Nope.
I didn’t know that she didn’t decorate eggs with Kamalani until late at night, when she told me she was bringing Kamalani over. Kamalani was already asleep by this time. I was fuming. How could her mother not take a few minutes away from the friggen cell phone so she could do something memorable with Kamalani? Well, she told me they’d do it when she got back from the airport which should’ve been around 9 or 10 A.M. Did that happen? If you guessed, “NO” you’re absolutely correct. Instead of rushing into the house and starting a pot of boiling water, she was glued to the phone. First her cell phone, then the house phone. It was sickening to watch.
I had originally planned for us to have a barbecue but seeing as how my daughter was pre-occupied with her friend on the phone, I decided she could spend Easter at her own house so I cancelled the barbecue. I told hubby I’ll be picking Kamalani up later to take her out for Easter dinner. He thinks that would be a great idea.
There is an upside if you can believe it. I bought Kamalani a Disney Princess Easter basket and she also received a basket from our friend (Nana Bernie). Hubby found 4 plastic eggs and did a mini, indoor egg hunt with her. She was satisfied with that.
Oh my, cell phones are the bane of my existence so I certainly empathize with you. In my case, though, people I don’t know hand me their cell phone to talk to another person I don’t know. Egads! Haven’t these people ever heard of germs?
I hope that by the end of the night, your Easter will have improved to your satisfaction. Enjoy your dinner!
(Mahalo for the card! It was very sweet.)
We took her to see Ice Age 2: The Meltdown. I enjoyed it, thanks to Queen Latifah’s character, a Mammoth who thought she was an opossum.
After the movie we picked up my brother and had dinner at Mitzel’s. It turned out to be a Happy Easter afterall.
Kids now days yeah. LOL I guess thats wot Grandmas are for, backup yeah.
BTW: in my Reunion Golf Party piece I talked about your relatives. But I neva mention their names. I no put peoples name.
Malama pono.
