It's just us

Dinner at Todai’s

05.28.06

One of our friends is leaving for a six month deployment so they planned for all of us to go out to eat at Todai’s. I packed my camera and new batteries so that I could take pictures of the food. I was so excited about going since I’ve never been there before but heard so many great things about the food.

I went online and checked the website. I browsed through the entire site, drooling at the menu and even mapquesting it in case I got lost in the caravan. As luck would have it, when we met at our friend’s house, they didn’t remember how to get there so they took my directions and we were to follow them. Since two of the guys were drinking from Friday night, they had a younger guy drive then me and hubby followed while another couple followed us. Big mistake. We weren’t even out of our town when we approached a traffic light. The lead driver forgot that we were supposed to be following him and he ran the yellow light, leaving us behind at the RED. Busy as a (QUEEN) Bee

05.25.06

Bet you thought I dropped off the face of the earth, but I didn’t. I don’t know what’s wrong with me but I’ve been unable to focus on anything for more than a few minutes. Maybe the warm weather is distracting me, who knows?

For Mother’s day, our husbands all got together and planned a gathering. I guess it was supposed to be a surprise but nobody told my hubby and he ended up telling me about it so that I could plan what to cook for the gathering. Ya know, hubby will do just about everything else thats domestic, but he will NOT do any cooking. So, I ended up doing the cooking for our potluck for Mother’s day dinner.

Right before we got ready to leave, the phone rang and when I answered it, it was my brother calling from Hawaii. He told me that he was looking to purchase a semi truck in Canada and wanted to know if he and his wife could come for a visit. OF COURSE! Like I wouldn’t insist that they stay with us?!?! (more…)

Confused about Medicare?

Well this probably won’t clear things up but it’ll make you ask, “What’s up with that?”

Grandma x5

05.03.06

My youngest son, he kills me.  The boy is almost 25 and he was still afraid to tell me his news.  For almost a month now I’ve been waiting by the phone for his call to announce their pregnancy.  I heard news from different parts of the nation; Boston, Oregon, Washington and Hawaii but none of those calls were from him or his girlfriend.

Last night I finally decided that I didn’t want to wait any longer so I called his girlfriend and asked her if it was true, she confirmed.  Then I asked if they have been avoiding me because they were afraid to tell me, and she said she told my son to call but he was scared.  It makes no sense because they already have a son who is almost 5 years old (his birthday is this month).

It’s a good thing I finally called because he had so much to tell me, he kept me on the phone for 6 hours.  When I told him I had to hang up to do something, he made me promise I’d call him right back.  At 3:00 in the morning, I couldn’t keep my eyes opened and I wasn’t really hearing what he was saying so I told him I really needed to go.  He laughed and finally said goodnight.  I think he felt very relieved to have finally gotten that off his chest.

Dangerous Toys

05.03.06

Hubby and I were watching a news show one night and they talked about a toy that you normally wouldn’t think could be fatal, but it can and it has been. A child died after swallowing the magnets that hold the pieces together.

Hazard: Tiny magnets inside the plastic building pieces and rods can fall out. Magnets found by young children can be swallowed or aspirated. If more than one magnet is swallowed, the magnets can attract to each other and cause intestinal perforation or blockage, which can be fatal. This product is unsuitable for young children. - - Consumer Product Safety Commission

If I didn’t see the program for myself, I probably would have a difficult time believing such a small little object could cause so much damage. At first I thought the death might’ve been from choking on the pieces. I was so wrong. Magnets are another thing to keep out of toddlers and infants reach.
