Busy as a (QUEEN) Bee

Bet you thought I dropped off the face of the earth, but I didn’t. I don’t know what’s wrong with me but I’ve been unable to focus on anything for more than a few minutes. Maybe the warm weather is distracting me, who knows?
For Mother’s day, our husbands all got together and planned a gathering. I guess it was supposed to be a surprise but nobody told my hubby and he ended up telling me about it so that I could plan what to cook for the gathering. Ya know, hubby will do just about everything else thats domestic, but he will NOT do any cooking. So, I ended up doing the cooking for our potluck for Mother’s day dinner.
Right before we got ready to leave, the phone rang and when I answered it, it was my brother calling from Hawaii. He told me that he was looking to purchase a semi truck in Canada and wanted to know if he and his wife could come for a visit. OF COURSE! Like I wouldn’t insist that they stay with us?!?!
So I mentioned my brother’s upcoming visit at the dinner and as soon as the words left my mouth, the men in the group already decided that we were going to have a gathering the following weekend at my house to welcome my brother and sis-in-law.
Hubby has been working his butt off, getting the garage cleaned up before the final shipment of our household goods arrive so it worked out perfectly. We hosted the gathering in our small little garage. I had hubby bring out the small television and stereo system so we could all sing karaoke. I borrowed our friend’s grill so I could grill the pork ribs, chicken, kalbi and kielbasa. Our friends brought food too. But everyone was looking forward to eating some Hawaiian grinds. I had to remind them that my brother and sis-in-law just got here from Hawaii so why on earth would they want to eat Hawaiian food, they aren’t lacking it where they come from. DUH! ~L~
We had a great time, we sang until 2 a.m. and mind you, we live in a very quiet neighborhood but thankfully none of my neighbors complained about the offkey singing. I find that the more we drink, the better we sound.
The next day, my brother and sis-in-law drove around our little town and tried to get lost but the GPS navigator kept leading them home. My brother called it his girlfriend, Neverlost. Later that night we went to see The Da Vinci Code. I read the book 3 years ago and I was one of those who eagerly awaited the movie. It was a bit of a let down. For me, the most interesting character was Silas, but then he was the most interesting character in the book too. I left the movie feeling that you’d understand the movie more if you read the book first. My sister-in-law who wasn’t raised in the Christian faith didn’t understand what the whole controversy was about but she said it was kind of interesting. The next day they drove to Canada and bought the semi truck, then later went to watch Poseiden. They both said they liked Poseiden much better than The Da Vinci Code.
When they returned home after wheeling and dealing for their truck, we went to have dinner at the local Jumbo Buffet Chinese Restaurant. The food there is always good, I could eat there almost everyday. Usually, the service is great but it just so happened that night we ended up with a waiteress who kept rushing us. She removed the plate I was still eating off of. Then she returned with our check, I called her by her name and told her to slow down and quit rushing us. The people at the tables beside us were there before us and they were still there while “Amy” was trying to get rid of us. A thought just occurred to me. Do you think the owners told her to rush us out? I mean picture a table full of Hefty Hawaiians. They could probably still make a profit with one or two Hawaiians, but 7 of us? ~LOL~
After being rushed out of Jumbo’s, we drove home in time for American Idol. I had no idea my brother watched it as religiously as I did. He knew all of the contestants and he had his favorite. We both wanted Taylor to win. If there could’ve been two winners, Kat and Taylor would’ve been my choice but since there’s only one winner, I had to go with the Soul Patrol. After Idol was over, they did some laundry and packed up for an early ride back to Seattle for their flight out. They left at 3:45 in the morning and they called me when they landed in Lost Wages Las Vegas. My brother said he needs to try to win some of their money back from the truck purchase. ~L~
Now the house is back to normal, quiet as ever except for when Kamalani’s here. I’m going to enjoy this time because next week will be a madhouse when we have our goods delivered and unpacked.
Finally, somebody else write in hea.
Yeah I read DaVinci code couple of years back. All of Dan Browns books, I tink ANGELS & DEMONS is betta. Made me want to go to da Vatican and go look see. I knew da movie couldn’t cover as much info as da book.
I know, people who ain’t Christian/Catholic oriented don’t get it. So wots da big deal dat JC was somebody’s baby daddy and MM wasn’t a prostitute, wot? As why hud da kine. Go read da book.
