Happy 4th of July
Jul 5th, 2006 by Leimamo
We spent our 4th of July at the City Beach carnival. The day started of with a sprinkling earlier in the day but soon the sun was up and shining brightly. It was a picture perfect day. I hadn’t planned on going to the carnival so they left without me while I stayed home and did some paperwork. Not long after they left, hubby returned and told me there was lots of parking near the park but it was starting to fill. He thought I’d want to be there so he came back for me. Personally, I think he’s terrified of being with the kids without me so I had to rush to take a shower and grab last minute items before heading out to KFC to pick up something for the kids to eat.
When we got to the park, we lucked out and found parking close enough to the carnival. I’m admittedly not the easiest person to take on outings because I hate crowds and I hate using public restrooms. Don’t even think about trying to talk me into using a hale lua cuz that ain’t gonna happen. Anyway, I stayed in the van while he went out to look for the kids. They were already eating hot dogs when he found them but they came to the van anyways to have some chicken. After we ate, the kids rested their opu for a few minutes then hubby took them back to the carnival so they could ride a few rides. After about an hour, they came back and he told our son and his girlfriend that it was their turn to take the kids. So they went back to the carnival while I sat in the comfort of the van and did word search puzzles.
When the kids got tired, they all returned to the van and laid the backseats down to form a bed, they spread out and they all took a nap while we waited for time to pass until the fireworks, which was about 4 hours later. We didn’t have to wait there too long because it started to rain about an hour later which prompted us to leave the carnival site and head home. Good thing too because me and my son’s pregnant girlfriend needed to use the bathroom real bad. She hates public bathrooms too.
At about 9:30, Megs drove them back to the park so they could watch the fireworks up close and personal. My son took some pictures which I won’t be posting because seriously, who wants to see pics of fireworks? I added more pictures to the gallery anyway.
Oh yeah, my prodigal son called to say thank you to all of us because they were going to cut his phone privies since he’s scheduled to leave the vacation home in two days. We spoke to our youngest grandson (Kaika) and our grand daughter (Leimamo 2) and they said they miss us. We miss them so much!!! I can’t wait til our next visit - - approximately 6 years from now, according to Leimamo 2. She told me they’ll come back when she’s 12 years old. I thought she was going to say for her 18th birthday. ~LOL~
