A Night at the Theater
Aug 11th, 2006 by Leimamo
When we were still living in Japan I went online to research activities we could sign Kamalani up for. One of the activities included the Children’s Theater held at our town’s playhouse. At the time, she was still too young to participate but I knew that sooner or later she’d ask about it.
A few weeks ago, I went to get a manicure and while chit-chatting with the manicurist, she told me that the theater was showing Aladdin which would start this month. Then a few days later I was reading the newspaper and saw an ad for ticket sales. I asked Kamalani if she’d like to go see the play and she enthusiatically said, “YES!!” She was actually hoping she could be in the play. I told her we’d have to wait because she was still too young. So I bought our tickets and they sort of cornered me while I was there. I’m now a member of the theater. ~LOL~ I wonder if I wear a sign that is only invisible to me? One in BRIGHT neon that says, “YES, I’ll DO IT!, SIGN ME UP!” Anyway, it’s all for a good cause. I’ll get inside scoops on auditions for upcoming plays that Kamalani might or might not be able to audition for. As a member, I’ll get to help out at the concession or wherever they’ll need my assistance. So anyway, we went to see the play and we thoroughly enjoyed it. It wasn’t a huge production, it was just 30 children from our little town but they were terrific. They had beautiful voices, their comedic timing was right on, what can I say - - they were just great! When we left the theater, Kamalani kept talking about how much she enjoyed the show. After seeing these kids give 100+% in their performance, it made me want to help out with the theater even more because they deserve it. What’s more is that Kamalani can’t wait to be an active participant in the theater. Who knows, a star might be born in time.

That’s cool. I think its always good that kids take interest in things la da. Fo’sure a star is born….
