Kamalani survived her first three full-days at school. On her first day of school, she was excited to be back. She got to see all her kindergarten friends again and she’s already planning play-dates with classmates. She said she hasn’t been doing anything “special” in class; just the usual - reading, writing and math.
I told my friend, Chito, that once Kamalani is back at school, I’d be able to go with her to the gym. In the past we haven’t been able to make it because I didn’t have anyone to watch Kamalani in the mornings. Now, there’s no excuse so this morning I picked her up and we drove to the base gym. It’s been close to two years since I’ve stepped foot in anything that resembled a gym so I needed some refreshers on the equipment. After 20 minutes on the treadmill, I wanted to die. Chito on the other hand was like Kamalani, asking what we were going to do next. So we headed off to the weight room and did some lower body workout on the machines.
Nearly two hours after we arrived at the gym and after doing a few sets on several machines, I was ready to go home and take a nice long shower. Chito on the other hand was still asking what we were going to do next. I told her to take a really close look at me and then try to remember I’m not skinny (like her), I smoke more than half a pack per day, and it’s my first day in the gym. Sheesh, she wanted to kill me on my first day. Truthfully though, it felt really good after the workout. I didn’t feel sluggish like I usually do - - until I ate. *groans*
Tomorrow, we go to water aerobics. Now, that I’m looking forward to. My brother is also going to join us and he’s really excited about that. Right now, I just want to slip into my bed and SLEEEEEEEEEP. nighty night.
