first twenty-five songs on itune shuffle

March 21st, 2008

okay gotta do a fast one because i’m not sure i’ll have time tonight…

  1. “tease me” by chaka demus. this is such a happy song. you can’t help but bop around to it.
  2. “victim of circumstance” by joan jett and the blackhearts. i haven’t heard this song in the longest time (we’re talking maybe 20 years!) yet i am able to sing every single word. how scary is that?
  3. “billie jean” by michael jackson. ah, what happened to him? sad.
  4. “that’s why” by the party. i can’t sing this song without imagining me performing this song.
  5. “into the groove” by madonna. my most favorite dancing song from her.
  6. “lady” by lenny kravitz. can’t listen to this song without playing air guitar.
  7. “the sign” by ace of base. i only seeked this song out because i couldn’t get this song out of my head after playing dance dance revolution.
  8. “no one is to blame” by howard johnson. i didn’t really care for this song, but i like this acoustic version.
  9. “stay (i missed you)” by lisa loeb. i like this song; it reminds me of college.
  10. “move this” by technotronic. good dance song!
  11. “milkshake” by kelis. again, only got this because it stuck in my head after playing boogie.
  12. “the sweet escape” by gwen stefani. ah, another earwormy song!
  13. “freedom 90″ by george michael. i have to admit, i like the other “freedom” better–it was so carefree and playful. this one is all serious. although i liked it when kelly rowland’s choir did it on “the clash of the choirs”.
  14. “give u my heart” by toni braxton and babyface. i usually don’t like toni braxton’s songs, but this one is the one i like. it’s bouncy.
  15. “oops i did it again” by britney spears. she makes me so sad. i really hope she can turn her life around.
  16. “1, 2 step” by ciara. this song makes me happy and embarrassed at the same time.
  17. “sweet child o’ mine” by guns ‘n’ roses. ahhhhh axl.
  18. “peace, love, and understanding” by elvis costello. i always thought he was saying “what’s so fun about…” and i was thinking, why would he say that? doesn’t he like peace, love, and understanding? then when i was told it was funny, i paused and said, “why would he say that??!?!” heeheehee.
  19. “i want candy” by bow wow wow. my sisters and i are constantly singing this song, even now.
  20. “here without you” by 3 doors down. good song to belt out.
  21. “far away” by nickelback. one of my new favorite songs.
  22. “in your room” by the bangles. my favorite bangles song.
  23. “c’mon ride the train” by quad city djs. this reminds me of volleyball.
  24. “quit playing games with my heart” by backstreet boys. awww. what happened to them?
  25. “another one bites the dust” by queen. heh, i can’t listen to this song without imagining weird al’s “another one rides the bus.”

wow that went fast! maybe i’ll have to do 50 next time ;)

why they’ll make me give up my membership card

March 20th, 2008
  1. shoes. i don’t have 40 pairs. nor can i figure out why anyone would want 40 pairs. i don’t find shoes “cute” and am comfortable with just a pair of slippers.
  2. make-up. i don’t wear anything. no lipstick, no mascara, no eyeliner. i don’t know why women do that. why paint up the faces like that? what’s wrong with natural beauty? why are we so obsessed with looks?
  3. i can be ready in 15 minutes. probably because i don’t have to bother with the make-up thing. although it does take me *forever* to decide what to wear.
  4. i don’t care to go clothes shopping. i don’t think i have, for years! all my clothes now are gifts. i just don’t see the thrill in finding a new dress among all the other dresses. i actually feel sorry for the dresses that don’t get picked and are just hanging there all sad. so i don’t spend hours shopping. that’s not fun for me.
  5. computer geek. i was the only girl in my high school computer classes. when i wanted to sign up for computer science as a major, i was turned down because i was a girl. my intro compsci class there were maybe 2 other girls there. in the computer labs at keller, i was always the only girl there, going online on those nifty sun computers so i could play my muds :P
  6. video games. not so much any more–before i think it was more a boy thing, but i think now it’s getting more balanced. while i do not like those shoot-’em-up games that most boys like, i was into things like zelda and pokemon which were more traditionally “boy’s” games.
  7. fixing things. i’m not a can’t-change-a-lightbulb-type of woman. i can fix the oven, the garbage disposal, the toilet–as long as i have instructions to follow, which the internet is good for! :)
  8. my favorite color is blue.
  9. i don’t mind getting dirty or rained upon, unlike some of the other members of my group who freak at the sign of rain because it’ll mess their hair up. *eyeroll*
  10. i love geometry and proving theorems and all that–it’s fun! apparently it’s not something most girls like about math.
  11. most women i know are highly-dramatic and when you read about cases where the person is sue-happy, it’s usually a woman. i’m more laid-back, i think.
  12. tools and machines fascinate me. especially when you take them apart and figure out how it works.
  13. i did know more about baseball that most girls did when i was younger. that has faded a bit now, though.
  14. oh, and when i was younger, i had no fear of bugs. the boys would be in awe of me as they’d catch a preying mantis and although the rest of the girls would go about screaming, i’d calmly let it walk up my arm. that came from growing up being the youngest of all the cousins, and the only girl. all my older boy cousins would do anything they could to get rid of me, so i was immune to all of that. but now? eeeeesh.
  15. i think there’s something else but i don’t want to share it here ;)

celebrity crushes

March 19th, 2008

i just saw an episode of law & order that had andrew mccarthy. i was so in love with him, and seeing him look older was a bit hard to take! he’s still handsome, but very different looking from the 80s pinups i drooled over. anyway, began to think of the celebrity crushes i had…

  1. andrew mccarthy. loved his eyes. he looked so sensitive, even though i had read reports that he was actually not a very nice person. broke my heart to read that.
  2. johnny depp. hubba hubba. he is so handsome.
  3. jason priestley. i first saw him on teen angel and thought he was mighty handsome (lovely eyes). then of course came beverly hills 90210. in the later years though, i became attracted to luke perry.
  4. richie sambora. everyone says “ewww” but i thought he was handsome. jon bov jovi just didn’t do anything for me. however, i do have to say that right now, jon bon jovi looks mighty fine. he has aged very well.
  5. roger taylor. he was the quiet one in duran duran and not into that make-up and stuff like his other bandmates, so i dug him the most.
  6. ricky martin. i have to say he was an awfully cute youngster when i was a teen, and even though i couldn’t stand menudo, i was drawn to him in all the teen magazines.
  7. hugh grant. hubba hubba hubba. again, beautiful eyes. and his accent and talking style reminds me of an old boyfriend. broke my heart when he got arrested.
  8. another one of my crushes broke my heart when he got arrested. but we won’t go into that now.
  9. john travolta. more back in the day than now–now he scares me. but back then–i grew up on grease and he was danny zukko!
  10. josh holloway. verrrrrry fine.
  11. keanu reeves. didn’t care for the whole bill & ted shtick but when he cut his hair for speed? yowza!
  12. vincent d’onofrio. this is a rather recent one. i know he’s been on tons of other things, but it wasn’t until law and order: criminal intent that i started to sit up and take notice.
  13. benjamin bratt. hott. julia roberts didn’t know how lucky she was.
  14. ashton kutcher. must be the cheekbones or something about the angles in his face…
  15. wentworth miller. gorgeous and piercing eyes.
  16. scott patterson. i love the character he played, but he was also a baseball player (picked up by the braves in the first round draft!) so that adds to his hotness.
  17. donny osmond. he was my first crush. i was like 6 or something. but i’ve seen him lately, and he’s not that bad!
  18. mark mcgrath. very cute. a few years ago, this other teacher who was on my grade level would call me “mrs. mcgrath” causing much confusion among the kids. :P but you do have to admit, my name sounds good with his! ;)

that’s all i can think of for now. yes, there are some major stars that are missing that i just did not ever think was hot, not now, nor back then (tom cruise, brad pitt, etc.). and this list does not include the ones i thought were handsome (tom selleck, ralph macchio, john stamos, and many more…). this is just the ones i’ve fantasized about having a life with (oh, i guess donny osmond wouldn’t count then because i was only 6 at the time! i wasn’t imagining a life with him back then!!!). er, still, that’s kinda a lot, huh? whoops.

things to do these next 2 weeks

March 18th, 2008

even though 2 days have already passed.

  1. fix the car!
  2. clean the house. ugh. i’ve had the time the past two days but i haven’t cleaned yet. *sigh*
  3. rest and try to get rid of this cold. the coldbusters have not been working. :(
  4. work on some real awesome lessons i learned at the most wonderful workshop i’ve ever been to. it really rejuvenated me. i predict this will fade at 7:45 the monday morning we go back.
  5. clean up my classroom. ugh. why is there nothing but cleaning in my future?
  6. make some cookies.
  7. whip up a batch of li hing mui lollipops for my sister to take to visit her friend who moved to the mainland.
  8. find some sort of activities or opportunities for the boy to be social.
  9. get easter gifts for the nieces & nephew.
  10. really get into tahitian hip hop.
  11. file my tax forms and financial aid papers.
  12. do my book orders.
  13. spend quality time with the boy. whoops. this should be #1.
  14. finish sewing the bookbags.
  15. crunch numbers to see if there’s enough for a new tv (old one is fritzing) after the car repairs and the dental bills. oh, i also need a new a/c soon, before the hot weather comes. oh and this bed is poking me with its springs sticking out. *sigh*
  16. go visiting.

hopefully it can all get done in 2 weeks. i think i’ll get to … 1 of them. hopefully.

why i don’t like green

March 17th, 2008
  1. i don’t like being forced to wear a certain color on a certain day. unless it’s class color day.
  2. the class below our class was green. booo! :P
  3. green is snobby. it refuses to color the trees and mountains on this side of the island.
  4. green is the color of money. money is the root of all evil. therefore, green is evil.
  5. it’s associated with the color of several gross bodily fluids.
  6. i do not like green eggs and ham. or beer.
  7. it’s the color of the walls where i work. work gives me bad feelings. so i associate that with bad feelings.
  8. i don’t like being envious, which is associated with green.
  9. when you get spinach or furikake stuck on your teeth, it looks gross.
  10. green is the color of frogs and snakes. ewww.
  11. stuff in the icebox turning green is probably not safe to eat.
  12. emeralds think they’re better than sapphires.
  13. peas!
  14. green fingernails aren’t very cute.
  15. i feel like oscar the grouch when i wear green.
  16. centipedes. ick.
  17. green tries to bully its way into the primary colors. you teach the kids that the primary colors are red, yellow, and blue, and that all colors can be made by combining those colors–but then there’s rgb screens which prove you can make other colors with red, GREEN, and blue. in fact, green combines with red to make yellow. bully.
  18. when most fruits are green, that means they’re not ready to eat yet.
  19. i don’t like the green tea matcha drink at jamba juice. bleah.
  20. i don’t get the significance of cutting down an evergreen for christmas.
  21. those green beetle thingies are scary.
  22. soylent green.
  23. green is the hip word right now. i’m so not hip.
  24. green goblin. or any sorta goblin or troll or elf with green skin. ick.
  25. algae and mold can be green. they can grow and grow and grow and sufforcate other living things, or grow on the surface of water and completely block the sun from the fish. evil!
  26. i didn’t care for the green itunes icon. the blue one looks much better. :)
  27. greenpeace can be scary.
  28. those green jade bracelets are confining!
  29. bruises! grosses me out to think the blood is all green and gross now. ewwww. i wince just seeing one.
  30. i loved green as a child. so it makes sense that i’d hate it now.

to be continued…

why sunday’s not my funday

March 16th, 2008

the bangles may enjoy their sundays, but i don’t care for sunday. it’s nice because of no work :) but there are better days of the week. so, the list of why sunday’s not my funday, or the monday blues.

  1. monday’s the next day. big, gloomy monday, looking over your shoulder, breathing its dread down your neck, making your tummy upset. there was a time when i absolutely hated sundays because that meant monday was the next day and i’d have to go back to work. by sunday evening, my tummy started hurting, and i’d toss and turn all sunday night because of the anticipated complainings i was going to get during the new work week. i hated it.
  2. chore day. sunday’s supposed to be the day of rest, but honestly, saturday’s busy with all sorts of sports and parties and things. people hardly schedule things on sunday, so that’s the day to stay home…and do chores. ICK. i don’t like doing chores. but that’s the day to get them done. and then you just have to go to work the next day! ugh.
  3. we used to have to dinner at grandma’s every sunday. now that was fun when you were a young child and had all your cousins to play with. but as we got older, we cousins all drifted apart. we started to irritate and annoy each other, and the next thing you know, sunday became a day you dreaded, because you didn’t want to see all your arguing cousins and feel that tension running thick between certain members. it got bad, and soon we were all making excuses not to go. it’s one thing i dreaded, and found other days to go visit grandma. i know she must miss her sunday nights, though, and must be wondering what happened to her family.
  4. sunday nights are busy. you can’t just relax before the new work week. there’s things to look up, prep, plan, etc. i can’t even enjoy the simpsons any more :(
  5. sunday nights are shorter. i swear, they take a couple of hours off sunday night, which is over before you know it, and put it in Monday afternoon, which just draaaaaaaags.

:P

feelings

March 12th, 2008

or a list on my moodiness

i’m going to be going through a big change soon. here are my feelings:

  1. happiness. there’s so much happiness to leave the stress behind.
  2. sadness. just a little, and reserved solely for the kids.
  3. scared. what if i can’t make my bills?
  4. anxious. i want to leave already.
  5. overwhelmedness. ? is that a word? i couldn’t think of the noun version. anyway, lots to do, where to start?
  6. vengeful. i want to leave everything a mess for the next one to have to clean up.
  7. guilty. it’s going to be hard for the kids to adjust, i think. *sigh*
  8. relieved. no more all that other stuff.
  9. nostalgic. no more all that other stuff.
  10. nervous. will i be good enough?

i am soooo tired so short list today. i can barely keep my eyes open yet there’s still so many things to do…
