It takes 3 to 4 weeks sometimes to get a care package to the war front. Well to Iraq anyway, so this is just a reminder…..
If you are sending a pacakage to Iraq or anyone stationed overseas, but especially in the Middle East; then the time to send your packages is now.
I sent one on Friday. If everybody put as much effort into sending a care package as oppose to stampeding in department stores, I think the post office would be over run and more soldiers would get their packages.
But on Friday there was hardly anyone at the post office. I told the post office lady I thought they would be packed. She said she thought so too but the crowds just came in now and then.
She was glad to see that I was sending something to Iraq now instead of later. She said the package should get there in time and too many people wait till the week before Xmas to send out their packages and those probably not get their till next year.
Did you know when you fill out the “manifest” form, I don’t know wot you call it; but the form you have to fill out. You cannot put just “toiletries” you have to be specific. So I had to cross it out and put “Tampons.” Yeah, I sent “shovem’ups” to a female soldier. Not just any kind of tampons mind you. The compact ones. LOL
I bought a small plastic case that fits 12 CD;’’s or wotever you want to fill it with and filled it with toiletries, candy & gum, caldendar and stuff like that. I forgot to send the chili seasoning. Oh well I guess I’ll just have to send another one. Good reason to go shopping anyway.
I love putting care packages together. Or maybe its wrapping it. Whole nother entry. *L* If you’ve ever gotten a package from me you know what I mean. I do not know how to send just one thing because I have a hard time deciding what ONE thing would I send. So I buy a few things. Bunch of things. Like I said, good excuse to go shopping.
Just wanted to remind everybody if you are sending packages overseas. Now is the time to do it.
