Well not really. But I was watching the Discovery channel last night and I felt like running outside and screaming the sky is falling, the sky is falling! Unresolved issues of watching too much cartoons as a child, no doubt.
I watched the program about Yellowstone Park is one great big caldera ready to blow up like a Super Volocano, perhaps in this life time and maybe not. Then after that was the Tsunami of 2004 in Indonesia. Then after that was “Could we be next?” a tsunami off the Washington state coast that could wipe out the west coast.
Watching all these disaster scenarios, I gotta ask myself, what would I do? Turn into a yoga master and kiss my ass good bye! It could happen? Ok not, I will not be kissing anybodys butt goodbye muchless my own. I’m just saying, “now wot?” And I wonder why I get nightmares, I keep watching these disaster scenarios. Like Katrina and Rita wasn’t enough.
I live in Arizona. Hello, no tsunamis. The closes body of water is the Gulf of Mexico, Puerto Penasco aka Rocky Point. About a 100 miles south of Tuscon, in Mexico. Probably no hurricanes either. Although….there have been tornados sighted out here.
Ok what about nuclear disasters? There’s a nuclear reactor way down the road, Palo Verde. Oh oh oh, terrorist, Def Con 3 or whatever. They’re coming via da Mexican Border you know. Hijole! Oh oh oh and what about meteors? YES, meteors falling outta da sky and landing on earth. Isn’t there one schedulded to collide with earth in 2100 or something like that. Oh, I won’t be here, Ok then thats fine. *L*
I’m just saying “awareness.” You just never know nowadays. Do I have what I need to survive to live thru some catastrophic disaster. No. Then go shopping. Costco? WalMart? Army surplus store. Whatever it takes. What do I need: water, food, candles, matches, more water, more food, & batteries. Batteries for what ~ in case there’s no men ~ LOL just kidding and oh toilet paper. Costco run.
Duct tape? Why would I need duct tape? I don’t know but its when you don’t have it, thats when you need it.
After watching Hurricane Katrina & Rita and other disasters on TV; I’ve decided to stay home if there is any IMMINENT danger. It may sound stupid on my part, but I’m into comfort. I live in a very metropolis area. Like 6 million people. Ok maybe I’m exaggerating but it is in the millions.
So imagine if you will the order comes to evacuate the city. It would mean head for the hills, north. You figure on an average you get a 20 minute window of opportunity to haul ass. Well between where I live and where the road heads north or east to go north, there are another million people or so and they are going to be on the road. Do I want to be on a two lane highway that turns into one lane with a gazillion people? No.
I’ll just stay home and watch it on TV. Whatever the disaster I think I would just assume suffer at home as oppose to on the road to somewhere that I am stuck in traffic. Maybe it sounds stupid but hey I’m gonna be comfortable.*L*

You are totally realistic and FUNNY at the same time. I would do the same if I was in the same situation as you. However, I am not. I am on Oahu, smack in the middle of Honolulu. In the center of Mayor Wrights Housing. Me, I would stay put in my concrete three bedroom, 1st floor palace, watch t.v if still electricity. If not - play my uke and sing Aloha oe’ and make everybody scared and CRY! Yep, das wat I would do till whatever happens happen and the heavens open up to take me up in the beutiful sky. I betta stop typing…I getting MANIC. I betta go take a pill.
