The Mysterious Class Ring
In 1971 one of our classmates bought himself a class ring.
Fast forward to May 2006 and surfing on Ebay.
When ever I go on to Ebay; “Waipahu” is one of the search words I always plug in. In May 2006 I was surprised to see a Waipahu HS Class of 71 class ring posted.
WAIPAHU HS CLASS OF 71 MENS RING SIZE 11
Being the “surfer” that I am, I forwarded the link to the Class of 71′ers that I regularly send “junk” to.
GB took interest in this ring. He emailed the seller trying to find out more information. Were there initials in it, how was it obtained, who was it obtained from? GB bought a class ring in 1971 but it was stolen in 1972. His had his initials in it.
This ring did not have initials in it. What GB learned was that the seller bought it on Ebay from someone in Orgeon. My question is, if you aren’t a member of Waipahu ‘71, why would you buy that ring? Oh, sorry this is not about me.
In the mean time the ring is in South Carolina awaiting a reunion with its original owner.
Long story short, G bought this ring with the intention of returning it to its rightful owner. He/we just want to know the story of how a Waipahu Class of ‘71 ring got on Ebay.
It’s probably a simple story and niele minds want to know. Don’t you?
Don’t you think its strange, like Twilight Zone strange; that a Waipahu 71 class ring was seen on Ebay by a Waipahu 71 person (aka Me), then bought by another Waipahu 71 person (aka GB) who wants to give it to it the original Waipahu 71 owner?
If this is your ring or you know who it may belong to; please email GB at beckergl@aol.com. Oh yeah and cc: Lika97@aol.com.
Niele minds want to know.
Anden one of my classmates sent me this story (you gotta cut & paste):

chee, now I gotta add Aiea to my eBay searches. I never thought of that! I lost mine on a ship in Long Beach Naval Shipyard back around 1975 or 1976. I took it off to wash my hands, forgot it on the sink, walked away. Came back 5 mintues later, gone.
Proably melted now!
