The question was posed at a recent department meeting; “Do you love your job?” It was asked in a rhetorical fashion, part of a story about someone being passionate about ones job.
It made for great discussion. Talk around the water cooler. *L* yeah like we stand around the water cooler. But you know what I mean. Its one of those thought provoking questions?
The lunch posse aka the lunch crew, whoevers. A bunch of us who go out to lunch and “discuss” business. Ok, we VENT and talkstink about people anden we go back to work feeling all better. We get over ourselves and back to the business at hand….
So I said “I love my job, its people that freaking invade my space and act like they’re shit don’t stink that bother the crap outta me.” With that said, I’m a very civil non-confronting kind of person SOOOOO as long as these people leave me alone and let me do my job in peace, I’m good.
And GIRLFRIEND, who will call you out in the parking lot & WWF/body slam you in a NY minutes says, “Oh no, I will call them out and get in their face and blah blah balh……” We were so cracking up because she would and she does.
Pretty much the consensus was “yes we love our jobs” and if there is any negative aspects to it; it generaly involves personality conflicts or other peoples actions/reactions. I was surprised no one mentioned higher pay. We have a job, we all get paid regularly, we have benefits; we all are greatful for that. In this day and economy sometimes you never know.
I was surprised that we all pretty much like what we do. Its whose around us that gets our goat. *L* I think thats pretty awesome that we all pretty much like what we do. Yes, there is the bitching and moaning. But when all is said and done; we are all grateful for what we have.
One person went off on WalMart and all the bad things they do/have done for they employees. Ever since Oldman Walton died, the kids & family that run the company are capitalist at its finest and the bottom line is money for them; not their employees. When I hear horror stories about other companies, it makes me glad I work for a decent one.
The quality of the company’s product and the customer service of a company lies within its employees. Its as great as the people who make the company. Great customer service is hard to come by these days especially when it is getting out sourced. Thats pretty spooky.
Do You Love Your Job, is a good question to ask yourself. Its in the same thought as “Do You Love Your Life?” Granted our job is not our life and our life is not our job BUT its interwoven. One is a reflection of the other.
And besides going to a job you love makes it a whole lot easier then going to one that you hate. Right? Right.*L*
