I was invited/asked to attend a CD release get together at Borders down here. LOL Ok was ins Scottsdale on the Waterfront, across from Nordstroms.
I’ve always enjoyed LIVE music as oppose to dead, nah nah nah, as oppose to DJ or synthasized or not for real, whateva its called. So of course I went.
It was the release of a CD called CUT ME SOME SLACK, by Moon Kahele. This is his 2nd CD, I forgot what his first one was called. This one is different from the first one in that this one is moe Slack key kine, moe insturmental, moe nahenahe.
I met up with a friend I haven’t seen for years and I sat down with her walaau too much, catch up with all da happenings la dat. Then the band, well 3 people played da Guava Jelly song. You know, ooh baby here I am come rub up on my belly with quava jelly - guava guava jelly. Dat one. So she pulls me and says us go dance. I’m like mortified. I dorono dis dance. She was just laughing at me. I neva go. Her and one ada NT went up and just ABLib make anykine, they’ve done this dance before. But we was all cracking up, was too funny.
I dunno dat many songs. But da first time I saw Moon Kahele play was at Moki’s Grill; me & a friend danced to Papalina Lahilahi. K-dat song I know. Anden one of da last songs Moon played last night was Ka Pua E. So my hula teacha, another girl from class and me went go dancem’.
It was a fun evening at Borders. Us making big noise. I forgot was one bookstore. Was so cute my girlfriend brought her 4 year old grandson and I was telling him; yell HANA HO! He yells “HELL - LO!”
So of course I had to buy da CUT ME SOME SLACK CD. I bought two, so one I can give for Xmas present. Den wen everybody was almost gone I asked Moon to autograph da CD’s. Cause you neva know hah, Bruh might be Hoku Award winna o’wot. *L* So he was signing one CD and I toldem’ just autograph’um. He was like “whose name you like I put?” I dunno, I going givem’ to somebody but I dunno who yet. So he go put, “to whoeva receive dis.” Us was just cracking up.
Anden I toldem’ “K-dis ones mines, makem’ to me.” Like he remembas my name right? He looked at me with one blank look and I said “Papalina Lahilahi, Lika rememba?” He was like oh yeah yeah yeah, and he go write: Ms Papalina Lahilahi. My girlfriend was just cracking up.
Anyway another evening of live entertainment will happen again on December 23rd, 6-8 pm at Borders on Alma School da one across Fiesta Mall. Us going be there. I told my friend, I going practice…”rub up on my belly with guava jelly.” LOL
