I attended graduation in Sooner Stadium, Norman, OK. Section 33, about 25 rows up from the ground at about the 20 yard line. OMG so many peoples. Walking walking walking, had to walk across campus. Had to walk up into the stadium. 6,000 undergrads? I was like OMG they going call ALL their names.

Luckily not. But they did call the names of the Doctoral candidates because they were all getting “hooded.” Except its not a hood hood, more like a drape thingee that hangs around the neck. There was about 100 PhD-ers.

The keynote speaker was Michael Bloomberg, Mayor of NYC. He was a good speaker. He was funny. He had good writers. He wasn’t boring. He said “Now that you have graduated for O U, U owe.”

Before the graduation ceremony that took place in Sooner Stadium, there was a Native American convocation thingee that we went to. That was really cool cause a lot of the graduates wear their regalia, their native attire. My daughter had a new pair of moccassins made by her fiances aunt. Really simple style, with OU on top.

My daughter got a maile from her NT in Kona. She wore the lei as part of her Native attire. Was so funny because most people had not seen a maile much less a lei in OKC. But the question my daughter kept getting was “What’s with the foilage?” I thought that was so funny because I had never heard it called foilage before. She explained it was a lei from her NT in Kona. She would tell them to smell it because its the smell of Hawaii. Its good medicine. Good medicine, they understand. LOL
