I must be in a creative mood. Or I was this past weekend anyways. I’ve done this before, like 27 years ago for my baby boy. So I thought I’ll make one for our first ever mo’opuna aka Grandkid. I made the ribbon shirt like in 15 minutes. I was taking pictures of it cause its so dang tiny, its a size 0-3months. So I’m taking pictures, taking pictures AND BRAINFART! I should make an aloha print one too. Duh? Baby has ribbon shirt, baby needs aloha shirt for Friday. Aloha Friday. So this is what happens when I have these creativesmative moments. *L*

So I was looking at my daughta’s gift register for baby stuff right. I notice on da list get Burpie Cloths. WOT? Cloth for burp. Hello. Burp cloths -special cloth fo’burp on. Only ting doe baby usually spit up or trow up, so ha’come dey no callem’ one trowup cloth or spittup cloth. Personally, I use to call it one DAIPA, you know a diaper.

Way back inda day there were no “burp cloths” there were diapers. Right. Or was it just me. Diapers are/is the all purpose necessary item with bringing up baby. Or I think so. Even in this day and age were majority of peoples use disposable, you still need a dozen or two diapers yeah. Well I think so. Call me old school, a diaper comes in handy for whatever you want to use it for.

Even doe new moms nowadays prolly no use cloth diapas cause dey all use disposables; still da diapa comes in handy. Like Burpie cloth, yeah. Before they invented the Burp Cloth there was da diapa. Somebody got akamai, renamed and labeled da multiuseful diapa wit “Burp Cloth” and dey you go. Smut, hah? Its called marketing.

Burp cloth smurf cloth. Its a diaper. Somebody reinvented da name, changed da mateiral. So I figure I can reinvent da diapa too. Try look. Wat dis? Diapa or Burp Cloth? Shaka diapa. I know look Kahuku-ish but its really OU - Go Sooners! LOL

Several years ago, I found this piece of material on Ebay. Its an underwater scene. Its about 36 X 46 inches. After I bought it, I gave it to my MIL for her to quilt it. I don’t know how to quilt and whenever I need something quilted she usually does it. It may take a few years or not; but I don’t usually put a time limit on it and if I do, its usually a year or two out. Anyways I had forgotten that I had given her this material and a year or two later she gave it back to me. I was very impressed. Well I’m always impressed when someone knows how to quilt.

About the that time I got the quilt back from my MIL; I started a “first Grandbaby box.” It just had a thing or two that I liked. My thought was at the time: What if I never get to see any grandkids? So I wanted my kids to know if they had kids & I wasn’t here; at least they know I thought of the kid. Morbid to some, but hey ya’neva know. This was several years ago, before 2003 for sure.

Fast forward to NOW and first mo’opuna - aka Grandbaby - ETA is October 19th give or take some. Next month there’s going to be a baby shower. So I’m getting stuff together. I opened up the ‘first Grandbaby box’ to see what all I had accumulated. Not much really. This quilt was in it so I took a picture.

I love the undersea scene. It reminds me of snorkling. I’m a honu kinda person. My kids are too.
For some reason I took a picture of the back of the quilt. I rarely do that. But I wanted to show some of the quilting detail. In doing so I notice my MIL had quilted a star where there was no star; and that star is next to a fish. I took this as a sign. Call me lolo but this quilt will not go to my first mo’opuna. Simply because it needs to go to my #2’s first baby. Look at the quilt. What’s on it? Yellowfishes. I rest my case. For that to make sense you have to know my ohana’s history.

Did you guys watch the opening ceremonies? Awesome show with a cast of thousands, fabulous costumes and great geography lesson.

I thought Yao Ming and the little boy Lin Hao was so cute. Such a sad and heroic story. Kid got a good viewing when Yao Ming was carrying him.

The choreography was awesome. Everybody was in synch. Usually you see one person outta place or miss a step or something. There was so much to see, and I didn’t notice anyone outta synch or outta place. I think they shamed out Disney. I bet the Disney people were taking notes big time. *L* The guy with the torch running in the air around the top of stadium made me tired, that was a long way around the stadium. It was a really excellent program.

Watching the parade of nations was very educational. I never heard of some the countries. True that you learn something new every day.

I got this email at work that kinda bothered me because it said “will you send out an email blast”……

My first thought was that it was tacky to ask for others to do what they suppose to do. If you know what I mean. They want you to send it out to others when in fact isn’t that what they suppose to be doing. First of all I did not know this person personally and may be if I did I would have taken it differently and understood, they wanted my help blah blah blah. Although the people I know would ASK and not tell or demand. The email I got was not a demand, it just said send it out to your members or whatever.

So if I send/FWD this email doesn’t it look like I work for them. Or I know them, when I really don’t. I don’t know how I got on the person’s “list” but its probably related to the people I contact regularly or who contact me; such is the nature of emails.

Maybe I’m being too sensitive. Or futtydutty? Or maybe I’ve gotten one too many calls & emails asking if there is a “universal form” for one thing or another. And NO there is no universal form, hello every company has its own form, go ask the company. I am not the company and I don’t have or do forms.

Maybe I answer too many phone calls and emails that are from people who either don’t have common sense, too lazy to call different companies, don’t know how to GOOGLE or all of the above. People probably just feel more comfortable talking to a human then googling, maybe. Or they don’t do Google, so lets ask the first human that answers the phone. I admit I hate talking to machines too.

And speaking of voice mail. Could you keep it short! LOL And could you repeat your phone number at least twice. And it helps if you enunciate. Listen to me, I’m probably one of the worst ones. BUT I have to admit because of the way some voice mails make me nuts…… When I call and leave voice mail with a business the first and last thing I say is my name and number. So I do, do it twice. I’m trying to be an example at least. hehehehe

Email has sort of changed the business scene and I think people forget that as “workers” we are also one anothers customer therefore there should be “customer service” - Y’all know what I mean. Some people come off awfully rude or short or ugly or you know…… just awful.

Call me old school but I was taught if you are on the phone with someone they should know that you are smiling, you should smile on the phone - even if its an ugly crotchity pissed off maniac yelling at you. Well that happens, I’m making funny face and throwing da finga but hey IN GENERAL - one should smile on the phone, the person on the other end should hear you smile. That’s customer service 101.

I feel that it should be the same way with email. The recipient should “know” or “feel” your smile. Thats my philosophy anyway.

I get email from people, I ask them questions and I get back: I told you that blah blah blah. I’m sorry but I don’t hear smile in the words “I told you….”

OR or, I email a person a question and I know they have the answer - thats why I emailed them hello - and I get an email back that says go ask so and so. It just goes to show that there are helpful people and there are rude grouchy asses. I have to remind myself to not ask these types of people for help or reference or anything cause I DISLIKE their hormonal attitudes. And and, these are the very people when they want your help, they are in your face kissing up big time. And I’m too nice to say “excuse me bitch remember dat ugly email, go ask so and so, back at’cha?”

Maybe its me. I’m being sensitive. Then again I know its just a generational different sense of business etiquette. LOL
