We didn’t stop in McNary but drove on through, because we had miles and miles to go before we got to our motel in Orofino. Since I am always the trip planner, I’d gone online and found what looked like a great motel there and had made reservations. I bet lots of my mainland friends have no idea what omiyage means. So here, I’ll save you the trouble of looking it up:
In Japan, souvenirs are known as meibutsu (products associated with a particular region); and omiyage, candies or other edibles to be shared with co-workers.
For instance, if I go visit my cousins in Montana, I take both meibutsu and omiyage. But I never go empty-handed. You may ask, “And your point is?” Well, try wait. I’m gonna tell you. (more…)

So last Saturday my friends and I stay going da kahakai foa one retreat; so of course da chree of us riding togedda had foa stop by Roxy’s, da new Hawaiian cafe in Beaverton. Actually, my two friends neva get chance, cuz I stay da drivah! But one of dem wen stay Lahaina foa a couple of years, and da odda one loves Hawaiian kine stuffs.
