On Saturday I began again to knit the poncho for my daughter. So far so good. I am going more slowly with it this time; knowing that I don’t have to meet a certain deadline is helping, though I don’t want her to have to wait too long. (more…)

Knitting Disaster!

My daughter had longingly looked at the picture of this poncho, and said she’d love to have me knit it for her. This was months ago. I didn’t get it done for Christmas, so I hoped she’d forgotten about it so that I could really surprise her on her birthday in March. (more…)

Mokihana Wen Get Socked!

Growing up in Hawai‘i I rarely wore socks. Slippers, yes. Barefoot, yes. The only socks I ever wore were in tennis shoes, and my feet rebelled every moment.

However, my move to Oregon has made it clear that snow and ice were not compatible with either bare feet or slippers. At least not with my feet. I wear slippers or sandals barefoot as long as I can stand it, but eventually, the cold wins out. (more…)
