Saturday, October 27th, 2007

I finished the Perseverence socks yesterday, so named because halfway through the leg, my ball of yarn developed a snarl in the center that meant I had to undo the entire thing and wind the yarn all over again. (more…)

A Dramatic Rescue

Thursday, October 25th, 2007

This is a true story that took place twenty-one years ago when Nolemana and I were vacationing for a week at Lake Tahoe, and when I was heavily involved in volunteering with a wildlife rescue organization.

This was going to be a difficult rescue. The bird was ‘way out on the dry alkali bed on the perimeter of the Alkali Lake Wildlife Management area in western Nevada, about seventy miles east of Lake Tahoe, where Nolemana and I were on vacation. (more…)

Don’t Bug Me!

Monday, October 22nd, 2007

Autumn in Oregon is so beautiful! Everywhere I turn, I see colors of gold and yellow and red, and this year, they seem to be especially lovely. It’s interesting to see which trees turn first, which ones have a mixture of yellow and green, and to see the progression of flaming colors to leafless trees, which quite frankly, happens far too fast for me. Thursday, October 4th, 2007

I finished the Numbah Two prayer shawl (actually it’s more like Numbah Five) last week and gave it to my friend. She’d seen me working on it, but had no idea it was for her.
